Has anyone had this problem before? It's pretty much plagued me for as long as I've had this game. My girlfriend never had it before, but ever since she met me she has. I've had this problem with 3 different computers now, mine, my girlfriends, and my new one. It doesn't make any sense to me, especially when I consider that whenever I've brought it up before, NOBODY seems to have any clue what I'm talking about, as apparently it's not even a rare problem. It seems to be unique to this household.
Anyway, whenever I open my character sheet, the game pretty much stops responding. Sorta, anyway. I can still see what everyone else is doing. If you talk, I'll see it. If you fight, I'll witness it. If you leave the room, come back, I'll see it all. I can even sorta move around, though I'm certain it doesn't register on anyone else's computer. I can't talk anymore, if I type anything it'll show up, but when I hit enter to send the message, it just doesn't go anywhere, it's lost. I can't exit the rooms, I can't fight, I can't access my inventory (when I do, the inventory window pops up but it's completely empty), I can't really do anything. It's very weird that I can see you all play, but I can't myself, simply because I open my character sheet.
It doesn't matter if I open my character sheet for an instant, or for 10 minutes, the problem occurs all the same.
My girlfriend claims that on her computer, the problem will fix itself after several minutes or so, though that's never happened to me. I've waited as long as 5-10 minutes for it to fix itself, and it hasn't.
I can always tell it's happening, because when I open my character sheet, it claims that I'm level 2 or 5 or whatever, but my XP registers as 0.
The only suggestions I've ever been given is that it's a software glitch, specific to my CD. So I tested it out the other day. I have NWN Platinum. I uninstalled NWN, and installed NWN Gold (it's an old copy of my girlfriend's). Same problem occured. Is it possible that once you have the glitch, it'll stick with your computer even if you delete the game and reinstall from a different CD?
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
