A rose by any other name- Or "What'z yo name?"

As a person of a curious Nick-ThePeeper- I am curious, what your nicks mean? Where do they derive from? Their origins? Why is it special to you? What's it mean? etc...

ThePeeper: A modification of my first nickname Don't Fear the Peeper.

Don't Fear the Peeper: A parody taken from Blue Oyster Cults "Don't fear the Reaper". Always was a fan of BOC, and looking for a name, I chose to alter one of my 'favs'. *Shrugage*

No point in explaining.

Skill Focus the feat, in the skill pwn.

Blades = Old Warcraft II clan.

Goblins4Life... well, only way out is in a stinking, rat-filled sack.

My nick is just the name of a snake with a humans head they come in varying alignments based on the specific type and psyonic powers of sorts.

My nick is a mix of the word Bureaucrat and the prestige class "Incantrix".

Name.

The Spectre part of the name is my first handle ever used when I used to play Quake 1 online back in the day. I got it from playing Twisted Metal 2 on the original Play Station where my favorite character to play as was Spectre the white Porche.

I also was a DJ in college for local parties and things, so merge the two and DjSpectre was born

It wasn't already taken when I registered with GameSpy.

Do I need to explain mine?

When I first got near the interwebs at the tender age of 8 in an Internet Cafe somewhere.

I was trying to decide on a nick.

Cafe Owner: Uhhh... What's your favourite food? Me: KFC LOL (Oh god I that is so muych further down the list now) Cafe Owner: How about... Chick-Chick... Me: Uhhhhhh... Cafe Owner: How about Clucker? Or Clucky? Me: YAYZ! OW CLUCKY IZ TAKEN! Cafe Owner: Put an x on the end? Me: W00TZ

And the rest. Is history.

MEAT FTW

I slapped together a couple of syllables that sounded pretty cool when I was... 13 or something. It was unique enough that I never have to worry about the alias being taken when I sign up someplace new.

It's the name of an old Mike Oldfield album. What can I say, I'm a hopeless fanboi.

Light & Shade is better.

Heresy!

Die Kotenku, Dierightnow.

Nandemo means 'anything' in Japanese. Joe Desu means "I am Joe" in Japanese.

Back torwards the beginning of my MMORPG obsession, my second one was EverQuest. I was making a dwarf rogue and wanted something...sharp.

Dagger...Slicey....Stabbing....something that implied putting something into someone else. Then I was watching some old 80's action movie with a character named Blade, and I thought it lacked originality....so I switched the B with a V.

And Vlaid was born, pronounce Vlade, for those who have been saying Vlad to themselves XD

I was twelve and it sounded 'kewl'.

Basically, Nightshade was taken and I thought 007 would've been lame/cliche to add to the end. So instead...

MasterAvenger was my brother's pseudonym pretty much everywhere, and I thought it sounded cool, so I tried to make one up that would sound as cool. I failed and ended up with this.

I actually think I made this up when I thought of an original Yu-gi-oh episode where that golden eye person plays the card Relinquished.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL Staring_Death.

I owned Gladius with my backshank secutor.

My older nick was Madirishman (mad irish man), my newer one is Svidrigaylov (you know, that guy who shoots himself).

An erg (short for ergometer = rowing machine) was where I spent most of college.

lion was the school mascot.

uh.........um.........uh...........uh.............what was the question dude?

Some excellent replies. I didn't expect so much thought in some of them. Defiantly a good read. Thanks! :D

I have no idea.

Long story short, I was born in Bolivia and Suit was the man who raised me and taught me the ways of the vampire hunter.

When I decided NWNs RP was for me, after far too many years of puerile NWNs PvP, I wanted to play an evil character. I saw Linda Black, who apparently had a baaaad-ass rep on Anphilia. I wanted a similar character, with a more lively name.

I'd been reading Arthur Koestler's The Sleepwalkers at the time, in which he goes into detail about the work of Johannes Kepler, the Astronomer. Kepler wrote a book called Somnium (which means 'Sleep' in some form of latin I think) in about 1750? about astral travelling to other planets. The concept of his book sounded cool. I am yet to find it.

So I logged into CoA with Somniis Szul and tried to play a Neutral Evil Sharran for about 6 months which was how I came to enjoy RP initially.

The word 'Szul' came out of my head - it sounded 'right' to me for a nasty-pastie; much in the way Kontenku's name came to him.

So I got bored on Arabel and thought I would surf around for another RP server to try out. I found EfU, quickly read some of the forum guidelines, and logged in with Kepler Szul, with less than half an idea of who he was/is.

And so I stayed.... The Saga continues.

So it sort of explains my nick.

CHEMISTRY.

My nick is more or less a combination of two words.

"Blue - Bye".

Emo, isn't it?

Mine comes from what i called the Chapter Master for my Space Marines in Warhammer 40K, Mikhail The Heretic, i use it on Librarium Online, and elsewhere if you see that name you know it's me.

My log in name is just that my actual name 8)

ready to snigger at me?

Phoenix - i've always, always used it, seem to remember it to have something to do with my hair colour :s

'Astral' - because i lost the use of just 'Phoenix' though forgetting a password or something ages ago. I thought numbers were lame so I wanted to add another 'cool' word.

My ex-boyfriend at the time was called 'AstralLevithan' - and so created 'AstralPhoenix'.

The shame.

p00d33m

oo sound in portuguese is u (not always) , and ee is i so ...

I pretty much use this name for every game I play, originally it first came out for Counter Strike :o
