Since I'm fidgeting with various builds for my comeback character, I figured I might give your module a try, so here's some feedback:
First of all I'd like to give you major kudos on the monster spawnings. Being able to not only spawn each and every creature in the game, but also view their statistics, attacks, defenses, etc, really is a nice feature. On the flip side, I could not really find a way to actually get rid of the spawns, short of killing them, something that kind of put a premature end to my gladiator days when I spawned a Flesh Golem (with +3/20 dr) to spar with my level 6 ranger.
The archery targets and dummies make for a good way to test your attacks versus various AC's, resistances and saving throws, in a customizable way, which also was very nice.
Of course, the shop, with its 25 pages/category, was very nice, especially since it was not really hard to find what you were looking for, even though there were so many items to look through.
Now for some (hopefully constructive) criticism:
- Lack of map notes. If you wanted to find something, you pretty much had to do so by trial and error; Map notes saying 'Arena', 'Level-up dude', and so on would be a great addition to the module.
- The previously mentioned creature despawn feature, unless it's simply me being too daft to find one (short of buying "omg uber-l33t wepin of d0om" from the merchant and gunning them down).
- While the experience giving system is nice, I think it would be preferred to offer the experience in steps of which level you would want to reach, instead of set numbers.
- Minor, and petty, but I figure I might as well add that "The Merchant" says 'wears' where it probably should be 'wares' ;).
- Not really an issue, but I found myself squinting at the screen to see how my character looked like with various gear; Perhaps make the setting a tad brighter?
All in all, a very nice module, and due to the creature and dummy spawns, one I'll stick with henceforth for character testing. Good job!
Ps. I haven't in any way ran a full beta test of it, but rather just fooled around with the things I needed to test, so this is only commentary on the parts I have seen thus far. I'll add more, should I deem it appropriate later.
