One thing has been bothering me latly, The toughest enemy on that qeust is not infact the person you are sent to kill. When a hasted fighter with 3 attacks (one from haste) with ab +14/+9 can't hit a mage dead afterattacking him for several rounds I see that as a problem. If this is intended make the mage the target, since the boss is a complete and total whimp by comparison.
Now grant it, there are parties who will plow through that qeust easily enough. But I really think there's soemthing wrong when something thats wearing 0 ac armour is extremly hard to hit by a warrior. Especialy since his spells can literally plow you down to one hp in single rounds.
The mage should either be toned down a litte or perhaps make ~him~ the target and not the other fellow.

I like it simply because it deviates from the norm of the end boss being the toughest, and that the toughest enemy isn't the one to finish the quest and is one of his "bodyguards". I think more quests should be like this actually.

It is intentional. Think of Street Fighter, everyone knows Sagat was tougher to beat than M.Bison!

Buff mages are supposed to be buff. Take those arcane rings and stone rings and unbuff him! :)

All of them had their specific weaknesses, and tricks to avoid their most damaging attacks. Pretty good design really, they were all quite different to each other.

When I possess in that quest, I usually use the mage to buff the leader, so every once in a while he's tough.
