So there is this gal I've been talking to for a while and we're supposed to meet at this restaurant this weekend named, of all things, The Beacon!
As soon as I saw the name I instantly thought of EfU!
Okay this didn't have a point, but on a related note we have a series of microbreweries named Rock Bottom for those of you who remember that old EfU inn.....

DJ, that's a pretty sweet and interesting story. I know I and many others on EfU will be pulling for you and this babe to hit it off-I recommend starting out slow, working out her info out of her, and then stepping it up, showing her the true DJ and letting her fall into lust with the real you. After the dinner, I also suggest taking her to a club that offers the tunes of Ashely Tisdale-primarily, "He Said, She Said." A few minutes of dancing to this wild tune will loosen her up, no doubt-then switch to "SexyBack" by Justin Timberlake, and watch as she swoons into your waiting, gyrating arms. Then follow it up with some slower tunes-perhaps take her to a country bar, and let her fall in love all over with a new you to the sounds of Garth Brook's "More Than a Memory."
If you could score some pix of this magical evening for the EfU community, DJ, we'd appreciate it. Know that we're all rooting for you back in our basement fortresses, and know that we're confident you won't let us down!

A pair of previous gals I dated or liked have shown no interest in it. I schedule time for the game and those things they would otherwise not want to know about and just tell them that I'm playing and don't go into much detail...despite wanting to.

As long as this romance has even a tenth the passion of Tarnis Westwind/Meriam Mayna, DJ, I am confident things will go well. I also definitely agree with your plight on trying to work out how to deal with your less-cool hobbies in a relationship. Instead of trying to hide them from a smoking hot babe IRL, however, I have taken to looking for true love on the Internet with an e-girl who shares the same sordid hobbies I do. To date, I have not been successful, but I continue to hope that, in that vast, wide expanse of the Internet that I roam, I may one day find a kindred heart to my own.
If your date is successful, however, I think you may give me and other jaded young men like myself a fresh incentive to try to score IRL again. I continue to strongly recommend the J.T. music, but if you insist on refusing it, I will only cross my fingers for you and hope you pull out a W.
A trip report on your return is eagerly awaited. Good luck, man... and remember if things go bad-even Squall and Rinoa were icy to each other at first, but in the end, nothing could stop their love that was meant to be from blooming. Treat her like your Rinoa, and you cannot lose.

Oh my, oh my, oh my! What a lovely, terrific young lady you have found, DJ. Clearly, the magic of Vibernum Blackhaw and the Beacon worked its way into your date-she looks like a stellar catch. I recommend taking some time now to read up on some classical romance literature-Shakespeare comes to mind-and then making her swoon with your well-versed skill in the true arts of romance.
Make sure you keep her away from IRC, though-your e-girls might get jealous when they find out you are cheating on them with a RL girl. Man, that happened to me one time-the ensuing storm was so bad I had to switch IRC servers entirely. :/
You two are beautiful, and if you take Squall and Rinoa's lessons of romance to heart, nothing will keep you apart.

.....But tell us more about the trolls and fire joke.
It started with her talking about her mom really badly and how's she's big, mean and ugly and taking money from the gal. So I said something to the effect that she sounded like a troll and she should toss a book of matches at her to scare her. Then I mentioned that she might also be allergic to nail polish remover and other corrosives. When she gave me a funny look, I reminded her about the fairy tale about the toll bridge trolls had and how in D&D trolls can only be killed by fire or acid. I finished off by saying that perhaps she should feel lucky to have her as a mom as no one else I knows has a mythical monster for a mother and that maybe a knight might have to show up and slay the beast and sweep her off her feet!!She laughed called me a nerd, then kissed me like I've never been kissed!

Otherwise, Never, ever, get too deeply involved with someone you have to lie or twist to fit. Ive seen so many of my friends descend into the pit of divorce that It had gotten to the point i had "I told you so", inscribed on my desk. If you marry for the sake of "Im 30, its now or never", youll be devoced by 31.
But more importantly, Ignore Sarf. Really. Pretend he doesn't exist. Banish him. Destroy him and pull off his mask to reveal Lts. Its true. I know it. I *will* prove it.

Screw it, don't tell her. I've dated three girls whilst I've played NWN like an addiction. The closest one has ever come to figuring it out is the recent one who saw that I had EFUSL tabbed on IE startup and asked about it.
Another thing- I live in a frathouse and play this game. A few have seen it, none have taken the effort to realize what it truly is. I explain it as a game where you kill shit and they brush it off. A few of them have found games such as Rome:TW and Mount & Blade to be fascinating even...
I digress. As I was saying, what she doesn't know won't hurt her- or you. If the story about the mom is true, then maybe it doesn't matter. But I never wanted to know my GF's opinions of my gaming habits, and likewise didn't want them to know about it at all. Same as I don't want to know my girl's "dirty laundry". Keep it simple buddy. Yes it was true, as corny as it sounds, but corny commentary and jokes usually aren't clever....relying on silliness to make their point.

Dude take a few notes from a old schooler. Don't hide the fact that you game if you lie about it now and she finds out she isn't going to trust you anymore. And believe me efu and nothing else is worth that. I have been married for over 6 years and got two kids and still find time to game. What is important is what time you do spend with her make it worth while and not just going to the movies and shit. The one thing that has kept our marriage going is the honesty and continued efforts toward it.
My wife knew i played pnp d&d and even internet aswell and it has never become a problem, If it ever does that is when i stop. Nothing is more important than family and the ones you love. On that same note if she really does like or even love you than playing shouldn't be a problem for you. Just like i said make the time you do spend together meaningfull and she won't have a problem giving you time for your hobbies. When she starts bitchin just put "that" shit on her, and all da real playa's know what i am talkin bout.

I never implied lying was alright or good. I have to strain myself to lie to someone nowadays because as a kid, I did it a lot and learned how to subltely manipulate retelling situations... happens when you're dad is a lawyer I suppose. From that experience, I know that I don't want to be like that.
Withholding the truth isn't lying. If it works for you, tell her, go ahead. And considering her return to your D&D comment, hell you might get another kiss out of it somehow. Maybe she'll learn the nerdy arts even- we need another girl, LTS isn't woman enough for all of us.
Eighties is right about honesty in relationships, but come on guys, these two AREN'T about to get married here. They just had their first kiss. They need to be learning about each other as people, not about what kind of games he plays, what kind of make-up she uses, or other unimportant details. Knowing or not knowing about EfU/NWN/DnD shouldn't matter whichever choice you choose, focus on the higher things.

Apparently telling girls about EfU won't necessarily 100% of the time completely turn them off to you. Just got first kiss with the girlfriend tonight, and I told her about you wankers weeks ago.
Though I don't know if I can even qualify as an addict anymore. Weekends are quite enough when you've got a job, martial arts, schoolwork and a girlfriend occupying the days.
