[Letter to the Council]

I've been asked by the Necromancer and Scholar Aleczumberzeil te Esoterotept to bring his grievance before the council. Watchman attempted to arrest him on the charge of necromancy, a charge he does not deny. He subdued these Watchman and fled into Lower Sanctuary. He wishes that, in exchange for a self imposed exile, he is left in peace. He does not mean harm to Sanctuary and in an earlier time his crimes would have been forgiven, now, he is a hunted man and it grows wearisome. His main preoccupation is research into the city's past and the source of the undead rising from its bowels, not raising the citizens of this city into some undead servitude.

I feel no great obligation to this man, Aleczumberzeil, yet I feel the need to bring his message before the council so that they may judge his case fairly. It is my best guess that should the law continue to hound him he will likely, as any man hunted and hounded by those seeking his death, strike back and end the lives of his pursuers. You will have backed him into a corner from which he will be forced to fight his way free. So again, I reiterate his offer of a self imposed exile in exchange for peace to continue his research. However, should you deem that his crimes deserve death then I will vigorously work for that aim. If you seek more details of the case from his perspective I will be able to provide them.

Chronomancer, James Petrov

Mr.Petrov,

This seems like a quite clear case to me. Mr.Esoterotept performed the art that is against the law. The watchman were doing their job, he resisted and attacked watchman, so now you have multiple charges. Noncompliance, resisting arrest, direct flight, assaulting watchman( which in it's self is a serious enough crime),amongst others incuding the original crime of the dark art. As far as giving "himself" a personal sentence of exhile, i for one of the council will not recognize this at all for it was not passed down as judgment by a representative of the city.

As for the threats of him "defending" himself if pursued. I think history has proven time and time again to those that break our laws and flee from justice all meet a bitter and precise end. I think the piked head of the late councilor near the filthy hole below us is reassuring to the fact. If he desires to turn himself in for judgment perhaps the sheriff will be more considerate on his reccomandation for punishment.
