We all certainly know the joy of finding a rothe, and hauling it's heavy self back to the city for some coin. But what about deep pigs? There are certainly enough of them about, and as it stands now...PCs have little interaction with them, unless one goes berserk.
My suggestion is to possibly include a NPC who buys Deep Pig meat ( Sausage ) or maybe their tusks or such. That or at least make the Deep Pig more prone to do something then simply attack you once and walk off.

I'd rather eat rat.
But an intermediate source of meat would be good! I heard there's a gnoll chef somewhere. :)

Aren't deep pigs supposed to be the most disgusting creatures ever? Offer some pig meat to a drow and they will be deeply offended.
I love this idea. I want some pig meat forthwith.

Pigs taste great if they're fed a steady diet of dwarves.

Is this doable? I have an IC need for some pig meat.

I'm little bit afraid of this "new meat" idea.
Certainly citizens of underdark would be desperate for food and suplies, can you imagine how would they fell about another type of meat?
But it could create a new "economy" like mining you would have "meat hunters" and every animal in the wild would mean coins.
EFU economy as far as I know is something really balanced, if you start to input new "products" which you can easily find for no cost and sell it, it would probably disturb this "balance".
Man but RIIIIIIIBBBSSS would be TASTYYYY!
Although the reaction of the druids and rangers to this idea could be significant, not to mention the real mess it would do to the daily diet of the Sanctuary people.

Druids/rangers understand that it's natural to kill animals for their
meat. Animals do it to other animals all the time.
As long as you keep pig numbers relatively low, and the value of
their meat low as well, I doubt it'd have much of an effect on the
"economy."
Or who knows, it might just spread chaos and lead to the downfall
of society. : P

Just get a DM to help you spawn a hunk of deep pig meat. There's no reason to go to all this trouble for something nobody wants to eat anyway. And Sanctuary isn't exactly short on food.

All this trouble? o.O;;
This isn't exactly a super complex thing. And why go through all
this trouble for rothe meat when you could just have a DM spawn
it for you?
Automation is good. Giving the DMs time for RP and keeping them
away from handing out pig meat. ^_^

I don't exactly see a line of people waiting to get pig meat -- and we really don't need another sinews object. So yeah, it doesn't take a lot of work to implement, but the gain hardly makes up for the time it takes to create a new object and change the treasure models.
Of course, if indeed there is a line (and not just the one that would invariably form if there was suddenly gold to be made), sure, disregard my input.
As for rothe meat, that's not trouble -- it's already there. And people want to eat it.

Ok, I guess I agree with you.
Though the "trouble" of implementing it, and whether it's "worth"
that trouble to be added, isn't for us to decide. That's up to
whoever wants to add it in. ^_^

I don't necessarily agree with you. Automation is useful to an extent, but I really don't see where you would find any regular buyers of deep pig meat, since as has been mentioned before in here the meat isn't exactly a delicacy.
If you've got a character who eats this, or someone who actually buys it then perhaps that is rare enough to merit asking a DM for some help. Either way you will still be able to roleplay eating your deep pig meat if it is important to you.
And.. I'm quite sure a DM could turn that little meat hunt into something really interesting if that was the case. Even casual stuff like that can be loads of fun!

Starving beggars who might not be able to afford rats or rothe
could be forced to pay 1gp for a wagon-load of pig meat, even if
it isn't a delicacy.
Unless I'm misunderstanding just how unappetizing it is.

I think a DM could perhaps clarify just how tainted the meat is. I know I'm just speaking from what I believe to be right.

It's edible otherwise the pig farm wouldn't be full of them, how it tastes is another matter...
On a seperate note are sinews used as a reagent or are they completeley pointless.
