Okay, so how many of you have ever been cornered by PC foes, without any chance of survival? How many times have you put up too little of a fight, or been out of consumables? Such an end is rarely satisfying. And, so I'm wanting to propose a new type of potion, the type you only use if you're in a -really- last ditch situation. How about a potion that gives you a big boost to all physical stats, maybe barkskins you and hastes you? The only clincher being, that you die a horrible death as the effects wear off. At least you get to be a badass for the last five minutes of your life.
What'd ya think?

Adrelalin potion perhaps? Or use one time item, just before you die?

In my humble opinion..such a suggestion seems to take away the care one must take -not- to find themselves in that situation.
A smart jack@*! picks his fights, and makes sure not to be caught cornered.
To me, it just takes away a great deal of the overwhelming nature of another group tracking you down in order to pay retribution as consequence for an action.
As I said, just my humble opinion.

I think your idea is bad and you should feel bad.

Aren't there rage potions for that, though?
Just a thought.

If something like this were to exist, it should be only one or two and be made for a SPECIFIC situation picked by the DMs. If these were easy to get, or popular, I foresee some horrible anger-related griefing situations. I don't like the power that this gives a player at a whim but feeling as if the consequences are already inflicted by self-sacrifice/suicide.
I know the DMs have allowed something... sort of like this before. It was a single use hellball item. So it's a definately possibility for this to happen, but as I mentioned, it would and in my opinion SHOULD be highly controlled.

Sip of the Void!
Edit: I don't really like this idea. It'd just make it insanely difficult to ever kill a character, and lead to far more characters being FD'd, basically.

there have been two such items that I've seen used like this: Sip of the Void and Tenesers Transformation.
Both made the player nearly unstoppable (though the latter was on subdual mode and thus limited his rampage)

I'd not mind it, but it'd have to be expensive as get out.

1 Turn of +X Con, +X Strength, etc., in exchange for death at the end of the duration could be pretty interesting, but...
I think it would be worth pursuing the invention of this potion in-game. I know if I had a brewer of dubious morals it'd be pretty neat to make something like that.

I like the idea of a "machine then death" potion. I'm a little more concerned about how it could be used, which to me would make this more of a rarer DM'ed opportunity rather than something you can just buy from a shop.

You could make a 'Potion of Insanity' that would give you -5 AC + 8 con and +2 strength, gives you +5% speed, and -4 wisdom. The beneficial effects would last a turn, The negative effects would last 3 turns, and after the beneficial effects run out you would suffer -30% speed.

There's an idea for a Cyric worshipper; earn praise to Cyric by selling these handy potions off to adventurers.

There's already a potion like this. It's the size of a keg, is filled with alchemist fire, and is easily lighted while cornered.
On the serious side, I don't like it. It gives obvious advantages to throwaway characters in pvp, which is something I won't go into great detail here.
The premise is great, but I believe should only be given out by DM's to crazy well thought out characters. Urdlenites, Cyric followers, you know the types. The ones who yell "FOR THE ___!!!! Ieeeeeee" shortly before dieing.
