Tracking

So tracking, that’s an awesome skill. I love it, adds another whole dimension to PvP. But why am I telling you this, since you all know already....

My question - should tracking be carefully used not to metagame? Or is it like stealth, a bit magical and therefore no real care needs to be taken?

An example - The other day some people chased our party into a static, which is effectively a one-way corridor. I tracked before they jumped us, and detected they had come up behind us, into the room behind. Now technically I shouldn’t have been able to detect their tracks, since they hadn’t walked where I was checking.

So should I pretend I cannot see their tracks? Or just assume tracking is my character whispering to the stone for its secrets or suchlike?

With tracking no longer picking up PCs it is considered a completely regular ability (unlike stealth), requiring you to actively search the area for physical tracks. As such, any tracks you do find are really there.
