The default spawnpoint for monstrous races could use not being placed in the Town Hall. Makes things a bit awkward, to say the least.

If you're not a goblin or kobold, a DM will start you elsewhere. Barring some unusual exceptions (freak computer crashes, for example), there are places that a monsterous race will find some degree of safety and can set their spawnpoint. Finding one of these places ought to be a primary goal for your character once they get IG anyways! Even Umberhulks have to sleep somewhere. (And no, Halfbrood, you shouldn't apply for an Umberhulk PC).

Select the Lower Sanctuary portal at character creation. Then visit Goblintown ASAP and set your spawn point there. Even if you don't go to Gobbotown, you will at least default spawn in the Crone.
Geez, people. It's not about me not being able to set the spawnpoint properly, it's about the default one for those races. If you make a character and the server crashes before you have a chance to do it, you end up in the Town Hall. Busted.
Taking the Lower portal doesn't always make sense with your concept.

Just imagine, you walk out and suddenly half the town's guards are hostile and chasing you around! Escape or die!!
If you get to Lower you're safe! If not ---- RIP!
Okay, then. It would have to be a pretty rare occurrence for the server to crash in the time it takes you to get to Lower from Nurtle's cave, even if starting in Lower doesn't fit your concept. Unless, of course, you just forget to reset your spawn point. :P

On related matter. Guards in the town hall do not make themselves hostile and don't attack. Actually, on my escape attempt I made it as far as the In-Between gates, running pass Blackbeard and Private Charlie with no reaction from them.
If that happens, just log out and then find a DM in IRC and tell them of your conundrum.
