First I would like to say, sorry, I don't know if here is the right place to post this question and neither have the time to look if someone else have posted about, I'm working ... so here it goes ...
Do anyone has a "how to" or any recommendation about running NWN on Windows VISTA? (links are welcome :D )
I bought a new machine and I'm planning to install this OS.
Best Regards,

Edit: Gee I forgot to post the bit you actualyl asked about.
NWN on vista - Pretty sure there is info about it on the bioware FAQ.
Nwn.bioware.com
My advice, as an actual computer technician (meaning it's my job in rl)
Don't get vista, unless you really absolutely need it.
for people who do not have extensive knowledge about computers, getting some things such as printers, scanners, and some keyboards and mouses - Can be a nightmare for them.
A lot of devices which work with XP will Not Work with vista. So unless you bought a bunch of stuff that specifically stated it will work with vista, You can probably bet it won't.
Im assuming here that you don't know much about computers (sorry if that is a false assumption)
But basically;
Windows vista is a powerhog. It eats up system resources like nothing else. Why? because it has a lot more features, which most users will not need/probably not even know about.
In simpler terms. Vista does a lot of things, most of which useless to the average user. But it does these things anyway, which takes up the computer's memory. This means that if you want it to be able to do other things aside from it's own little tasks (at any decent speed) Your computer needs to be quite nice.
That being said. This nice computer, while not having all the bells and whistles Vista has - With the exact same specifications, It will run a lot faster with XP, and since vista is relatively new - XP runs alot smoother too.
But don't let this discourage you from getting vista. It's a good OS - If your computer can handle it

Cruzel,
I'm sort of computer technician as well in rl.
Never tried vista, and I do prefer the linux world, but "home" OS isn't my best.
Today at home I run a XP, but I bought a 64 bit processor and some people sad I wouldn't "eat" all the resources I could if I kept using XP. Don't know if it's actually true ...
CPU.cfg:
Asus M2N-X, dual 4000 Mhz processor, GForce xfx 8500 GT and
2 Gb RAM
Question will it handle what you think I should do?

p00d. The answer to your question is simple. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, *EVER* UPDATE TO VISTA. Unless you love buggy rips off. Take it from me, the least pwnt person on this forum, switch to Mac OS X. It takes about a half hour to get used to, then you can play all windows games through bootcamp, open and modify HTML directly, open whole programs in edit and mod them, and do abunch of other stuff. You dont even need to buy a new version of NwN as long as its a new mac.
Untill such a time, you are dead to me.
Edit: :"I'm sort of computer technician as well in rl." - Then, once again, Mac will save you. I am a programmer at Aspyr, and Mac's verious little easy bits save about 2 hours a day. Mor if your using anything that you can use Predictions for.

Well, to answer the question... NWN runs just fine on Vista. The only thing that is goofy for me is that it can't detect my video card (very new card) so whenever I start the game, it asks me to verify my video settings (like the very first time you run the game).
As for Vista. I've been a computer technician for well on 8 years now. If you feel like trying Vista, do so by all means. It may not work with some older hardware, but it's getting to the point of being pretty stable now. Seeing as your computer is new and likely built to support Vista, you'll probably have few to no problems.
Please don't listen to people that blindly tell you not to try something though. They're speaking from personal horror story experiences, sometimes, yes. But you'll never know if it works for you unless you try it yourself. If you have the time to play with it, do so. If you absolutely cannot afford the time to switch to Vista and then back to XP if Vista doesn't work... then don't make the switch at this time.

I have been a computer technician for about 48 years and listen to me, DO NOT USE THOSE OPERATING SYSTEMS.
They are garbage, all of them. I have been running NWN on my Commodore 64 with nothing but an additional 64k memory upgrade (i had to pound this in with a hammer as they didn't provide any extra memory slots) and it runs great.
Operating systems in general use tons of resources, such as oil, water, minerals like gold and led, and sometimes even milk. Best to go without an OS altogether on something like the Commodore 64, Vic 20, or even just an ATARI 2600 with some nice upgrades to the RAM.
MY dad ran NWN using only two sticks and a rock. He did this walking to school barefoot in the snow, uphill both ways. If he can do that then surely you dont need any Vista, XP, Mac OSX, or crappy Linux.

I have reached a stage of enlightenment where I have shed my mortal form and become pure energy, and as such, I am now my own operating system.
I feature the most powerful graphics and speeds, because I do not render the world artifically but actually experience it. Sometimes I pity people who have to rely on electronics to enter the game world, but then I laugh when I remember that I don't actually care.
Unfortunately, the constant porn pop-ups are troublesome.

It works on Vista like it would on XP. That's all. Most games do.
