Sanctuary Library,
We at the Temple of the Red Skull have managed to restore an excerpt from the memoirs of an ascended dwarven saint of our Temple. I regret that we were unable to save more of the crumbling text, but I submit it to you so that it may be preserved and shared for eternity.
In service of Truth and the Way, Brother Thelonious
Memoirs of the Dwarven Priest of Moradin and Red Skull SaintI am a priest, a warrior, and a soldier of Moradin. I died defending my ancestral dwarven home against the hordes of orcs. I was only a novice with the axe, but I was needed and so I died doing my duty.
When I died, Moradin found me and told me he had a new purpose for me. He sent me to the first level of Hell, to a section made out to look like the Underdark. Here was a town called Sanctuary that was filled with many souls like my own. Many of these souls had been here so long that they had forgotten the reason He and the other Gods sent them here.
But here I also found the Temple of the Red Skull. He told me I should work with these people, as they had resisted the corruption of the devils and either never forgot or rediscovered the truth, thanks to their founder, Frederick Bresley.
Here I was to perform a great task in Moradin's name: to find each of my lost and confused kin who found themselves here, to show them that this world was actually Hell, to rescue them from their suffering, and to guide them back to Moradin's arms.
And so I have joined the Red Skulls, so that Moradin and his friend Bresley can watch me as I work, and protect me from the devils. Then when the time is right, He will allow me to Ascend from this Hell. If I succeed, then my words will be a guide for any of my kin to follow. And if I fail, then I hope my words will inspire my readers to finish what I started.
