[A letter to Aerestien Tirqua]

[a filthy beggar who smells badly of cheap liquor delivers the letter to Mycopolis, addressed to Aerestien Tirqua]

To Aerestien,

We have met briefly and you quiet wisdom struck me as inner peace. I write to you now about grave concerns for the state of affairs among druids. For just this dark, mere hours before my quill hit the paper here, I was viciously attacked by druids who claimed to be of the circle, though i had never seen them before. All three wore the bone armor i have seen worn by the druidic kind.

We were in the Temple of Hoar, tending to the undead infestation which has plagued them. At first they seemed of good sort, and I was glad to have such allies in the battle for the safety of Sanctuary. They claimed to have this same motive. Things would soon turn another direction.

While battling a rather large pack of zombies, at least two of these so called druids shifted into a beetle form, which I have seen on several occasions, seeming to be a popular shape for druids. while standing to the back and preparing spells for our defense, one of the beetles sprayed me with some sort of noxious acidic substance. Immediately i went down, right there in the doorway and saw my life before me. It seems I stood at a crossroads, and fearing not death for I knew i would be at peace finally, i was prepared to let my life go. My only regret being that i left behind those who i had thrown my lot in with. I left them to fight the undead alone.

At some moment, while lingering between life and death, i was healed of my wounds, my seared flash made anew. Looking up i saw it was another of our companions. Two of the druids stood, while one lay dead beside me. I was called a fool for blocking the dead druids escape as he tried to flee past my acid burned body which had blocked the door.

I was shocked, I knew not what to say. Those i had thought had loyalty to the cause of Sanctuary now showed their true colors. More accusations were made, and violence threated to my body. Being allready near death, i told them I could no longer accompany them. I turned to leave, baring my back to them and was given chase. I began to run and was chased all the way out to the street, Where the one Druid who formed the party shot me in the back. I barely escaped with my life.

This is most alarming behavior from a folk I had once considered level-headed and just. To defend nature is a noble cause, for surely without love and respect for the natural systems which sustain all life, we are doomed to die and ruin the spectacular beauty that surrounds us. However blindly attacking old men who have risked their lives for the good of others, is simply lawless brigandry. It does not shine well for the cause of your ilk to have such dastardly compatriots.

We of civilization have laws which we must live by. I do hope that one day we can work together with the druid folk, toiling side by side to lend the benefit of each others viewpoint so that we may build a truly enlightened society. For the race of man will continue to build cities, it is only with your help that we may learn to do this in harmony with natures laws. It is my sincere hope that one day, the laws of civilization and the laws of nature are one in the same.

Sincerely, Archie Blatz

Speak to me in person so that we can rectify this situation. I assure you no harm will come to you from any druid on your travels to and from speaking with me.
