Dear Councilor Elrithilia,
Below is my recollection of the incident of the Frost Giant Cave. It has been many days since the incident so I apologize if I cannot recall every detail.
Councilor Pepto Fizzwiggle had heard from a wandering nomad of a strange portal out in the underdark and wished to investigate it. Joining Pepto was myself, the cleric of Tempus Hando, the warrior woman Sange, the half-orc potion brewer Grog Velith, Tormtar Geoffrey Wellington, the elven Aerestien, and a man which I believed goes by the name of Sarin.
Once we found the portal in a windy canyon, we found it to be under the guard of a single kobold. Appearing out of the shadows, however, was the Shadow Tribe emissary Alaron Kaur. The kobold and Kaur revealed to us that within the portal was a group of frost giants and kobolds led by a dragon. After furtherconversation between Kaur, the kobold, and Pepto, all of us--save the kobold--entered the portal.
The portal had lead to a frost covered cave of an unknown distance and position. After some time we had decimated the frost giant and kobold numbers. We also encountered the frost giant leader whom we managed to slay.
After this, however, Alaron Kaur goaded us into confronting the dragon that dwelled within this cave. He had given us--at least me--the impression that the dragon was already aware of our presence but would not attack us considering that it had not done so already despite us having killed many within its cave. I must also admit that Kaur had enticed our curiosity; I had never seen a dragon before and neither, I believe, had anyone else in our party.
The dragon, which Kaur identified as Angruliflax, attacked us on sight. We all retreated in panic, Kaur laughing, almost maniacally, during the entire time. Hando was caught by the dragon and slayed; Tormtar Wellington was waylayed by a frost giant and also struck down. Though we were able to revive Wellington, Hando was out of our reach.
After much heated words between Kaur and the rest of our party, he went off and retrieved Hando's body. After leaving the frost giant cave, he lead us to a cave within the same area, that appeared to be some sort of lair--it contained a large, black statue of a dragon.
Here, Kaur told us that Etorix could revive Hando if two of us would pray to the Shadow Tribe dragon. Sange and myself did so. A darkness fell over the room, and once it had lifted, Hando was living again. After saying offering more praises to Etorix, Kaur slipped into the darkness and the rest of our party returned to Sanctuary.
Also included in this letter is a map of the way to the portal--I had retraced my steps to confirm the location of the portal. I hope you're able to make use of it.
Sincerely, Ashki Delazure
The map is simply drawn, but clearly shows a path from the Old Sanctuary Gates through Gate Road, Underdark East, Not So Thin Road, to the Windy Canyon.
