Letter to the School of War

I am Lord Allivarn Fireheart, once of the Fireheart of estate on the borders of Eastern Cormyr. I am writing this letter to inform you of a potential opportunity for the betterment of Sanctuary. The Blue Mushroom inn lies on a trade route linking Sanctuary to the rest of the underdark through the mines, if the route to the Blue Mushroom inn can be cleared, and the Inn itself held, we control all potential trade heading to Sanctuary, and securing a route through the mines, we will no longer have to Worry about monsters, and we will have earlier warning of impending invasion.

I am writing to you on this, because I believe the School of War, the Warriors of Tempus and Red knight can clear the mines of all hostile foes, and make the mines for every being in Sanctuary. You can make use of the Old Duegar encampment to establish a bridgehead in which you may, or may not launch assaults to clear the mines of Monsters.

This act will provide the School of War with prestige, and control over the mines. Thus gaining you more ground to practice whatever maneuvers you wish. It will Benefit trade, and Sanctuary in itself.

I do not inform the Watch since I am sure they have enough to do as it is, I am not aware of any purpose the school of war serves other than providing another means of Combat training to the Warriors of Sanctuary, prove your metal and be useful to Sanctuary through strength of arms.

*Signed with a Flurish* Lord Allivarn Fireheart.

Lord Fireheart,

While I like your suggestion, I think you vastly overestimate the day-to-day military power of the School. We are a collection of battle experts and battle-lovers. Our charter in this city is to train the citizenry to defend themselves more aptly, and to hold tournaments that add gold to the city's coffers.

If at any point our ranks swell to the point of actually holding a position in the mines I will certainly consider it, though as I said we are an organization that teaches our fellow man to defend himself, and how best to do it.

-Frank Dederich, Headmaster of the School of War
