Give the Slimes & Oozes Acid Immunity. Not talking Puddings here! - Seems like the logical thing to do - but go ahead and flame me if I'm wrong. The thing is, they die to the Cubes with their invisible Acid Aura, slowly taking the Ooze's HP down. This makes the Oozes very sad.
Acid Immunity
This also happens if you get those same acid aura oozes in a certain quest in Mycopolis. You walk in and see ten oozes attacking a bigger ooze. It's like the WWF Smackdown of oozes. CAN I GET A HELL YEAH?!
This IS a tasty idea.
The location Vlaid wrote about as well as a certain quest which only spawns Ooze' and Cubes. By the time you get down to where the Cubes spawn, most Ooze around them will be Injured or worse.
To clarify this for the DMs, the certain quest is the Slime Bunker quest which you used to be able to get in the east of Lower by talking to the halflign that has "Portly" in his name. Then you can enter the bunker in Mycopolis, and on its second and final basement floor the mentioned thing happens with the oozes cubes.
Could you be more specific?
The warehouse in Mycopolis just west of the transition to the Canal gates. The one where all the truckloads of slime equipment comes from.
Cubes & Ooze creatures tend to spawn together in certain locations (Think Mycopolis's Lake and the Canal Depot QA) - The Cubes have an invisible aura around them which inflicts acid damage every so often. Because the two creatures spawn together, the Cubes' will hurt the Ooze using acid damage.
So: Cubes (Gelatinous Cubes) damage the Ooze they often spawn next to to an extend where the Ooze will finally die. It's why the Ooze' should probably be given Acid Resistance 10/- or 100% damage immunity to Acid. It makes sense for Ooze to have Acid Resistance too, I guess.
Do the Cubes still paralyze each other too? Because, that's always seemed odd.
Three cubes after you. They paralyze each other, you escape.
The ooze type is supposed to grant immunity to paralysis, among other things.
The acid thing harming the other oozes is kind of funny though, but from the few sample oozes I bothered to look at, none of them had immunity or even resistance to acid. Of course, none of them had an acid aura either.
I would rework the encounters and quests so these creatures didn't spawn on top of each other, because as far as I can tell oozes have various elemental immunities, but none of them have acid immunity or resistance. It might be a universal vulnerability intended by the original designers.
Of course, 5 acid resistance on some newb oozes probably won't break the game either, if that's the easier thing to do.
Some oozes do already have the acid immunity. Found this out the hard way by trying to spam Slicer Beetles Acid Spray on an ooze. I don't recall which kind though...
Never did any damage though. SO I'd have to guess this quest was just a silly oversight.
Definately should be immune to acid though.
I believe the bioware (non-adjustable) oozes are vulnerable to acid, our custom ones aren't. But we'll take a look at it.
Bioware stuff can be adjusted. You need to edit the OnSpawn default script however.
Then OnSpawn, check if my tag equals the tag of whatever I want to change, and apply the change.
Its fairly simple.
I will confirm that Oozes take acid damage as I've seen archers with acid arrows damage them in that manner. Same for slime gloves or acid gloves that can cast acid splash.
