My Great Grandpa is a God.

I'm creating a new character and have run into a bit of a strange canonical problem. I've spoken to Scotty, but I want to get a wider view point of the DM's. What I want to know: Do I need an application?

Life and Society of Mulhorand Mulhorand has long been a patriarchal nation, with the first son of a family inheriting two-thirds of the family's property, the second son getting the remainder, and all other children left to fend for themselves. With the removal of the deific manifestations and influence of Pharaoh Horustep III by foreign mercenaries, Mulhorand's laws have started to enforce equality between the sexes.

Clerics are still the most respected members of society, with the vast majority of them being descendants of the incarnations of the deities they serve. Wizards and sorcerers, also well respected here, spend their time researching new magic or examining old artifacts.

As my character will be female, I needed something to give her an edge in a mostly male dominated society. Since she is also a follower of Thoth, and needed Wizard training it made sense for her to grow up in Gheldaneth and study with the Priests of Thoth and in the Wizards College.

However, to ensure that happened I made her father a Priest of Thoth. Inadvertently, this makes her a great grandchild of a god. Whoops. I didn't know this until today, but the vast majority of the clerics are mortal descendants of the deities they serve. This causes an interesting problem.

While I doubt it will ever be central to my character, and nothing more than background fluff offering no real or special advantages (aside from social benefits in Mulhorand), I can see it as something that she'd take pride in. After all, I can't imagine many mortals not taking pride in something like that. It is something that she would certainly feel sets her a step above all the other wizard's out there, and yet at the same time... it just feels like I need DM approval to say, "My Great Grandpa was a mortal avatar of a god! Don't screw with me!"

I don't want to be smote by an angry DM should the situation ever come up, so I'm posting this here. Is this something that requires an application? And if so, how does it affect clerics who serve Mulhorandi Deities? I would imagine that even if they were not direct descendants they would at least lie and say that they were. This would mean that, even if it were not true, my character would still likely believe herself to have a blood-link to a god.

Just make her a descendant of one of the clerics who isn't related to a deity. She can claim whatever she likes IG.

Let's ban Mulhorand pls

EGYPT

Thanks Caddies, does it matter one way or another though? I imagine this would be something impacting almost every cleric who would worship a Mulhorandi Deity.

P.S. Metro someone has to upstage Azzam when it comes to desert metaphors.

P.P.S. I'm totally going to get the hate for picking the name Nefertiti Thutmesu.
