The Trial of Agent Best and the Declaration against Councillor DelorinOn the Matter of the Trial of Our Agent,
The Spellguard would like to make it clear to the Council and the People of Sanctuary, that we support the actions of the Sheriff in regards to the removal of Councillor Delorin from office. We also echo the support given this decision by Councillors Nikitovich and Fizzwiggle.
While we cannot lament that Agent Best has been returned to us without harm done to him in the wake of his Trial, we stress that we in no way pressured Councillor Delorin to predetermine the outcome of this trial, nor did we deliver any such ultimatum that reunification would be abandoned in the case of a Capital Sentence rendered on our Agent. We merely urged him to pursue the facts of the case rationally, which is only proper.
While we understand the desire that Ex-Councillor Delorin had to see his plans of reunification progress without any further diplomatic issues such as an execution of one of our members, this end cannot justify the compromising of a fair and impartial legislative or judicial system. When Former Councillor Delorin decided that his political ends outweighed the requirement of impartiality and full consideration of the evidence given, he in effect forced the consequences upon himself that were delivered by the Sheriff.
We hold Councillor Delorin no animosity, yet we cannot blame the Sheriff for taking the action he deemed necessary to continue the integrity of the Council and Judicial Systems that are integral to the success of our Legal System and Government, nor can we blame the Council for standing together with the Sheriff in this decision. The Sanctuary as a whole must come before the desires of any one man.
The Order of the Spellguard
