Letter to the Watch: Training Deep Hounds for Watch use

A young lad by the name of Richard Torin'Stre has been for some time trying to get his project for the city off the ground, and now it seems he is close. The project is to train Deep Hounds for the use of City Watch, to enchant our security. In short I think this is a brilliant idea.

He plans to store the hounds near (or inside, Councillor Varlam thinks Chosen would kill the hounds if left outside) the dwarf fort, but they are asking a rent for it. The rent would be 500 up front in gold, as well as 250 a month.

My proposal would be that Richard Torin'Stre would pay initial sum himself, but the watch would pay the monthly rent (or give discount to dwarves about renting the place, since it is on watch property) since it is the watch that will benefit from this. In exchange of the rent paid, he would do monthly report to the council and the watch of his progress.

I hope the watch is still equally interested in the matter, my previous talk with the Sheriff was encouraging.

Respectfully, Councillor Wyric Crowshire

Crowshire,

With Barak-Tor effectively sealed off for the immediate future, your hound trainer will need to find another area to conduct his project in. I remain thoroughly unconvinced that such savage beasts can be tamed; I am also unconvinced that they would be of any use to our city's defenses. The Watch will not be doling out any payments for what appears to be a largely futile project; if he does net results, then we may discuss any monetary arrangements and contracts at that time-as I told Richard himself when we met.

-Lieutenant Sunellar

Thank you for the reply Lieutenant, I hope you could remember other's titles as well as you do remember your own in the future.
