It has been long due i take out the small pieces of collected paper, small journals, and hides, and compile this documentation of my trip in the underdark, leading to sanctuary. After i complete it ill try to work up the will to subit it into the shelfs of the library. 2 weeks to expedition I have decided to start a small journal to document the coming expedition for the library. Imagine, my own adventure being repeated by bards! Well, today we saw the mayor of the small town "silverfur". luck holds. He says that yes, the dwarfs have agreed to give us passage into and out of the mysterious underdark. I sung at the party today, and I think my songs are getting quite inspiring for a mere Loremaster of my age! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (Compilation note: the rest of this periods journal was lost to the waters) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2 days to expedition start Were here, in the deep dwarf mines. About half way down, we are beginning to notice an interesting change. The freezing cold that so bothered my old bones has began to ease. I'm not sure if I'm getting thinker skin or its actually getting warmer. Meldrain managed to scry our route so far, and we have eluded almost all danger.! I just hope our luck holds like this. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 day to expedition start We arrived in Selumus today, one of the small shield dwarf holdings in the underdark. The air is surprisingly warmer, and I think i like it down here. We met the group we will be with, a mercenary company of 68 dwarven fighters and 2 dwarven defenders, truly a great honor. We set out tomorrow to finally get a look into the fabled lowerdark. Last time I rest in a bed for close to a year. Best go to sleep then.

Day 1 We have finally, officially, left. There was much crying and promise extanging among the dwarves, but Meldrain and I already went through that, not much to report there. With so many, It doesn't make sense for him to be scrying almost continuously for monsters, so we only really have to stop about once an hour now. Moral is very high, and it looks like over all this will be a good trip. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day 4 Today I met one of the defenders, a Dwarf named Morton. He didnt seem really friendly, but he is amazing in battle. Saved my life today when a Malar beast chalked me down for food. I seriously doubt anything could hurt him. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day 5 Interesting happenings today. I was cornered. Went off to relive myself, and was attacked by a bat. I was almost dead when, deneir be thanked, I somehow managed to force a spell to daze the creature while i ran. I know for a fact that there is no Sorcerer blood in my family, so i wonder what happened? In other news, we saw a "Deep Lizard" today, must have been nearly as big as a average home! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day 10 Today we had our first real battle, and sadly, our first real loss. Only 10 days in and already a drow patrol Killed 3 people. Meldrain wasn't there, ill ever know why, but we won. Tomorrow will surly be interesting then, my first burial. I am thinking i am too old for this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day 11- Burial Last night i stayed up all night, trying to get the dwarven ceremony right. Normally the defenders or other dwarves would handle this, but they were from another clan, somehow rendering that a problem i guess. I think i did ok, The dwarves didnt seem to kill me, a good thing when it comes to something as touchy as this. I nearly broke when i saw the bodys. I am old also, will i soon be as such? I dont think i will sleep well tonight. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day 12 Talked to the dwarven defender again today, He reluctantly admitted that I did well yesterday. Always a good sign. Today we had another encounter with the drow, but Meldrain was here this time, so no losses on our side. I am getting worried however, these are scouts, and not soldiers. Heres to hoping we don't draw drow attention. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day 15 Disturbing developments today. This mourning, we met 2 wondering creatures, what we now reconise as Illithids. There was quite a bit of bartering between the Dwarves and them, but it seems they did come to a conclusion, as suddenly about 190 of the dwarfs started attacking their own kin, and the flayers walked off. 15 losses total. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day 19 Today was really not anything hugely special, but we are officially in the portion of the underdark known as the middledark. The monsters we fight are getting slightly tougher, and Meldrain is using up all his invisibility spells quickly, but we are able to hide well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day 24 Another interesting day, we met a creature that i was unable to reconise. It was mainly human, but it had stone looking skin and magical powers that easily conquered Meldrain. He wasnt interested in hurting us however, so the only injury was Meldrains ego. For awhile I guess all my songs will be on nothing but "Meldrain the most powerful archmage". ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day 25 Today Meldrain has mastered a new "epic" spell, and has gone off looking for the creature who beat him, so were stuck camping here. The spell he can now cast is called "Ruin", and almost cut a mountain in half. i hope he returns soon, as camping here Isnt much safe.
