On Drow

I have some questions about our dark elf friends.

- Is there an active Drow playerbase/IC player-run Drow houses, etcetera? - Do Drow PCs start in a different location/with different options than non-Drow PCs? - Are Drow accepted in Sanctuary or PvPed on sight? - Are there Drow-specific areas? - Is there an active Lolthite City that Drow play in? - Does Drow ECL only effect max level, or do you have to pay off initial ECL levels in XP before you begin levelling normally? - Does ECL effect XP earned? - Is Drow play restricted to certain options? (For instance if Lolthite Drow were not allowed as PCs for their obvious disfunctionality in Sanctuary, but other Drow were allowed that could cooperate in RP more.)

1.) No. 2.) You can take your pick of any of our scripted start locations with any character. 3.) Killed on sight in Upper. Varies in Lower/Mycopolis. 4.) Find out in game. 5.) No. There is a large drow city in our setting, but intended largely for NPC use. 6.) It does not effect max level. 7.) Yes. 8.) Not at all.

Dark Elves are not our friends, but we have some answers.

Let us begin:

Firstly, there are rarely more than a handful of active Drow PCs at one time. There are no PC-run Drow houses and Traensyr, this setting's Drow city, is largely off-limits to PCs. As Drow are an application race and need to be approved and wanded before they can play, there are multiple options for how you can start depending on the concept. The majority of Drow PCs in the setting will be exiles and rebels, and of Llothites I doubt we've even had more than 5 total.

As you'd expect, Drow are universally loathed and reviled. Moreso in a town built up of primarily former slaves, or the children of former slaves. Playing a Drow means you will be actively pursued, and the character's race is reason enough to be killed outright. There are, or were, some Drow-specific areas in the setting, but you'll need to locate these in-game.

In terms of mechanics, their ECL+2 does not affect their maximum or starting level (everyone starts at 2), but their XP gain will be MUCH slower than that of a standard subrace character.

Sithis take you, Bill Sherry.
