Helm crafting?

Can helmet appearance crafting be added? Or if it already is, can someone inform me of it? I have seen weapon and armor appearance crafing, but maybe I am just going about the window wrong.

I'm pretty sure much like the crafting system itself its very low priority

where I can understand the ENTIRE crafting system, as in MAKING items, to be too much work..i thought it wouldn't be too much of a hassle to be able to alter or modify helms. It'd be cool, and would add some flavor to the server.

I don't think the helm's have modular components, so if you mean creating new helm appearances, I don't think thats possible... but I would love to be wrong :)

Your wrong its possible to do, it just requires scripting. They can only be changed in overall appearance no detailed changes.

Ah, I was thinking of detailed changes... like swapping horse hair for spikes and the roman T-cut for a grate. If the details can't change, whats left for crafting? *sincerely stumped*

Helmets a pretty much non-changable for small details.

Actually characters coming from pretty much ANYWHERE in the realms to be in sanctuary means that the customisation options should be strong, even if the majority are escaped slaves they'll go back to wearing what they're comfortable with as soon as they're free.

Ideally they'd be a special build room for preludes that lets people make characters and customise absolutely everything that their prelude character would have. Free modifications to armor/weapon , free dyes, weapons of all types and metal colours. (or better yet a scripted way to modify the bits on your weapon colour wise)

Once you entered there through a special portal in the initial character room (the room with the head stones) though you wouldnt be able to enter sanctuary at all, only via a d.m prelude. It would mark your character as a prelude ONLY character and you'd always appear in the PRELUDE customisation chamber , once the d.m has finished the prelude they'd somehow mark all characters as now being "fit for sanctuary".

I guess it depends how common preludes are going to be in the future.

Most preludes involve losing nearly all your stariting loot (if you even start with any that is) anyway :P

I'd love to do a prelude at some point...

My hours when I can log in are pretty limited at the moment, though. :(

Yeah no LOOT... :) but basic stuff for whatever prelude you're doing should be reasonable.

The d.m running the prelude normally gives people starting stuff anyway based on what class choice they have.

This bit of the chore would be removed if players could do it in a special room.

I agree though that everything that you ARENT WEARING should be removed as you start the prelude.

That means you only get ONE weapon (or weapon + shield) and have to be wielding it as the d.m starts the prelude

I also wouldnt make Full plate available for preludes either, even if they're level 2 (knights) they'd likely only have half-plate or splint at most.

Just to clarify something, I'm pretty sure that certain types of crafting aren't just "low priority", but actually something that the DM's have chosen to exclude. Helmet crafting may not be one of these things. However, I think being a "tailor" or otherwise having the option to customize the appearance of armor, clothing, helms etc should be considered, if it isnt already. I've always felt that added a lot of flavor in previous experiences...the only catch is, it takes away from the effect of finding unique looking items, when everyone else is wearing the same old rothe hides and rusty plates. So there's an argument for or against. Maybe it could just be a very expensive endeavor, making it still a point of pride to have unique looking armor.

Then again, I havent actually looked into this aspect of the module, it could already be there, so apologies if this is the case.

As far as I am aware, helm crafting is not planned. A system will be added shortly to allow for armor customization, but it will not allow for customization of helms or weapons. If you want cool looking helms or weapons, search around in-game!
