[This letter is sealed and delivered to the Shadow Tribe Embassy. On the outside it is marked:
"To: Etorix, the Great Shadow Death From: Sanctuary Councilor Hoaradin Delorin".]
Great Lord Etorix, the Great Shadow Death,
I realize that a Great Lord like yourself is eternally busy, but I felt that penning you this letter was of the utmost importance. My name is Councilor Hoaradin Delorin of Sanctuary. I am sure you have heard of me as well as the issues I have had with your tribe.
However, after taking a seat on the Council, I cannot help but see the error of my way of thinking. After realizing all that you do for our city I understand that I must reevaluate my position, and I believe I could see us both benefiting from a profitable alliance in the future.
I have heard of your great battle against Zovalder, and how he cowered and fled at the sight of your presence, and rightfully so. I have heard of the deeds you have done for our humble city, and how you have slain thousands of Formian single handedly. This city could never express our gratitude enough. We are truly humbled by your actions, and I personally must offer my apologies for my previous statements against you. They were in error.
However, your Ambassador - Alaron Kaur - has left a very bad impression while acting in your glorious name. He has come to my offices, insulted me, insulted my city, tarnished my things and generally showed a great deal of disrespect. I realize that this image is not one you wish to display.
I have nothing but eternal respect and gratitude for all that you have done, but it is my most sincere hope that those that act in your name realize that this Council requires a similar level of respect. We are the acting legal body within this city, and we would greatly like to give to you the things that you wish.
However, in order to do that there must be cooperation and respect shown toward us. Just as we would not expect one of our own to bring insult to you in our name, we hope that you feel the same about your own. It is my most sincere hope that you shall inform your Ambassador that I will not tolerate further displays of disrespect especially to my things. Should he continue to do this, I hope that you do not hold me personally accountable for the punishment I bring against him. It would in no way be an insult to your name, but instead be my realization that a man who acts in your name is misrepresenting you horribly and therefore must be punished.
Despite the disrespect and insults I have listened to his words, for I knew they came from you, and have taken them to heart. The Council of Sanctuary realizes that, while you defeated Zovalder handily, his minions did manage to cause some minor damage to Slaal'teesh. This is unfortunate and we would like to offer our assistance. As such, I have put forward the following to our Council.
1. The City of Sanctuary would greatly like to increase its assistance and trade with Slaal'teesh. However, due to the unsecured abandoned mines we are not capable of doing such. We have contemplated on securing them ourselves, but unlike a powerful Great Lord like yourself, we lack the ability to do it. It is our most humble hope that the Shadow Tribe could secure the mines at least to a point equal to the former Grunstubhle Clan.
In doing this the city of Sanctuary would then be able to lay claim to the former Blue Mushroom Inn, and begin establishing stronger trade with Slaal'teesh. I realize that the Shadow Tribe are not guards. We would never disrespect you by asking for such. Instead, we simply require for the Shadow Tribe to secure the mines until the city of Sanctuary gains the capability of doing it ourselves.
We are turning to you, because we know that a great and powerful being such as yourself would possess the ability to make this possible.
2. Once the mines are secure the city of Sanctuary will have the ability to lay claim to the Blue Mushroom Inn, which is now abandoned, and in doing such we could transform it into a port establishment that we may use to transport goods and services to your city.
3. The City of Sanctuary is but a humble and poor town, and while we cannot offer you much, we are willing to offer what we can. Your Ambassador made mention that you wished things such as processed zurkh, foodstuffs, fabrics and other such materials. As I mentioned, Sanctuary is but a very poor and humble city, but we are eternally grateful for all the boons you have given us, but cannot afford to send you these things for free - even as we would like to do such. Additionally, the gold sum requested is completely impossible for us to give, and what is more we could never give to you a suitable tribute. To give the meager sum we could offer would be a great insult. However, we would still be very much interested in getting to you the things you've requested. As such we propose that a fair trade agreement be signed.
4. In regard to your statue its destruction was met with great sadness. It was perhaps one of the best works of art I have ever gazed upon, but I also feel that not enough people were able to witness its greatness. It's placement was entirely too high, and not enough people looked up to see it. The new placement selected is too remote and it would be placed behind a building and an animatron - that is not a worthy place for a statue of you. Instead, it is my belief it will be seen and honored by many more people if located within the now abandoned mines.
If your tribe secures those mines, all who pass through them will gaze upon your greatness, and know that you - and you alone - have achieved what Sanctuary could not. It would be a reminder to all in this city that you, and you alone, stand between them and utter annihilation. A statue of your greatness must be properly located. If you put it up too high, not enough people shall gaze up to see it. If you put it behind a building and an animatron, its place would not be prominent enough. A statue of you must be more than a statue, but also a statement to all who see it. It must be a reminder of your greatness and your kind and generous actions.
5. There are citizens of our city who may wish to come to Slaal'teesh to give their aid and thanks. In order to ensure that trade may take place smoothly between our settlements we believe that our citizens should be allowed to walk the streets of Slaal'teesh without fear of harm or enslavement. They could become a great boon to you and the economy of the city. If the Shadow Tribe could ensure the safety of our citizens, secure the mines, and allow us to lay claim to the Blue Mushroom, such citizens would be able to make their way to Slaal'teesh and assist in its reconstruction. Additionally, getting all the things you have requested of us to you would be much easier.
I realize that this is but a humble offer, and I realize that a Great Lord of your power and significance may find it almost insulting, but I hope that you take it into consideration. It is all our humble and poor town can offer to you. It would be a great pleasure to strengthen our ties to you, Slaal'teesh, and our trade agreements.
Please, have one of your servants write me back at your earliest convenience. It was a great honor penning this letter, and once again the city of Sanctuary gives to you our eternal gratitude for all that you have done.
Councilor Hoaradin Delorin
