PCs handing out scripted quests

I am just wondering if it would be against the rules/policy for a character that is too high a level to complete a quest to make a sending for aid with the quest and hand it out themselves/change the scripted quest's storyline a bit.

For example: Call for people to help with the Zurkwood plant and tell them what the problem is and give your own IC reason why it needs to be done. Then they would talk to the NPC, complete the quest, and after recieve the reward from the NPC and a reward from the player character as if they had finished the task for the PC.

If this doesn't break the rules, would it also be ok for the higher level PC to give the lower levels buffs to help them complete the task for them?

Just an idea I had and don't want to break any rules. Thanks.

Everything here is fine except for the buffing part!

What IC reason could you have to hand out the Zurkwood quest to someone? I'm not saying you -couldn't- do it, but I think a lot of reasons someone might come up with would just be metagaming the scripted quests. Also, please do not buff people lower than you to go on quests that your character will not be a part of. They are not designed to handle that.

Thanks for the answers.

In many situations, this kind of thing is absolutely encouraged. Just be careful to do it tastefully.

Regarding buffs, this post addresses our basic policy. Basically it's not a bad thing to do if you're a merchant and not going too cheap, but we don't really want to see it done for OOC buddies as a way to rapidly power-them up through the low level quests.

When doing this can I reveal some information that is not normally given by the questgiver to fit the IC reasons my character is handing out the quest?

For example: Zurkwood plant. Could my character tell the lower levels what opponent awaits them to fit my IC reasons for assembling them?

As far as buffs, I have no interest in power levelling people, more to help them see the power of my faith and my organization, and maybe get some converts. This doesn't seem to go against the policy, but I won't do it as it seems a bit of a grey area.

You can tell these people the things the NPC questgiver would say, but don't reveal any spoilers.

Ah....that is too bad. Makes it kind of tough to fit it into character then.

Alright, I will have to do some rethinking.
