Letter to Councilors c/o Herald Jafar

Councilors,

This is a tentative personal message to open potential formal discussions, but we have been asked to re-enchant the robes that protect you during these times of increased danger. In exchange for the now empty Seeker Hall, our order would most likely be willing to do this. The exact details will be worked out between us.

The building would become part of a work-housing project to aid poorer citizens. Indeed, in these dangerous times, the building can be refortified as a safe location and defensive point to house some of Sanctuary's most vulnerable citizens.

Agent Hectra

I fear we are not interested of giving out Seeker Hall in exchange of having robes, that you can monitor and possibly control. Building might still become a poor house, but in town ownership.

By the way, could you return Bhast estate back to the Town, as his will does not name the Spellguard as benefactors, in fact quite the contrary. You can leave the keys to the Town Herald.

Yours, Wyric Crowshire

Agent Hectra,

Your motion is denied. I have spoken to Agent Blake and she will make my feelings toward your order clear.

Councilor Hoaradin Delorin

[an open letter is returned to the Town Hall]

Esteemed Councilors,

The responses received to Agent Hectra's proposal sadden us. Outright rejection of offers to provide solace and aid for those in Sanctuary that suffer or have nothing do little to foster any atmosphere of possible unity between the Magocracy and Sanctuary.

Nothing in the proposal was said about the building being owned or controlled by the Spellguard. It was an offer to open negotiations, one that was totally rejected out of hand. Your only reaction? Absurd and flippant requests for property that are now an integral part of the Spellguard Magocracy. Shame, Councilor Crowshire.

If this is to be the response to all Spellguard efforts to work with you and foster a relationship that may, I repeat may lead to a reunification between our respective states, then there may be little point in continuing those efforts. I do not want this, and I dearly hope the current Council does not as well.

If you can respond in a reasonable fashion, please do. I am always receptive to such. If not, then do not waste your breath or parchment. Regardless, we will continue to work for the betterment of all Sanctuary wherever and whenever we can.

*the Seal of the Spellguard*

((signed with a flourish)) Agent Blake Order of the Spellguard

Agent Blake,

The Sanctuary Council has already found a use for the abandoned building that once housed the Seekers. We are also already dealing with a similar proposal as Agent Hectra put forward. We have no desire to allow more of our territory to be taken by the Spellguard.

I have already denied a similar motion once before when it was put forward by Agent Hectra. The fact that I denied it again should not be shocking.

You are mistaken about Agent Hectra's intentions. Here is what she said: "...we have been asked to re-enchant the robes that protect you during these times of increased danger. In exchange for the now empty Seeker Hall, our order would most likely be willing to do this."

That is where I stopped reading and caring about what she had to say.

This Council will not be blackmailed or bullied by the Spellguard. The only defense that can be put forward for the reason your organization is tolerated is because it strives to do its best to protect this city. I believe that is the truth. However, considering the looming threat we face and the games the Spellguard play it is causing that one single truth to be called into question. I will remind you again that should Sanctuary fall the Spellguard will join us. Our fates are linked together, whether your order likes it or not. We cannot force you to provide your enchantments considering the looming threat, and you think this provides you with an advantage.

However, I encourage you to remember this well: Your actions and your inactions will be remembered. When the dust has settled and we can focus our attentions on reunification your order will be punished or rewarded accordingly.

The question that must be presented to you is this: Do you want this Council to look upon the Spellguard in a favorable light or not? Cooperating with us is a good start, and will be looked upon favorably. Working against us, giving us a hard time and having Agent Hectra make silly demands is a good way to further put your order within our bad graces.

The mistaken position that your order holds is that it is in a strong position to negotiate. I'm afraid I have to inform you that it is not. You will either work with us or you will not. You will either be punished or rewarded for your actions. The choice is really yours to make.

You know that I am an honest, straightforward, and reasonable man. You know that I am willing to work with you should you prove to be cooperative. However, that is the key: You must be cooperative.

Councilor Hoaradin Delorin
