Officer Barkley,
Normally I would prefer to deal with the machinations of your Order through your charming emissary Arianna, but the blatant disregard that your agents in Sanctuary have shown for the city's defenders, its laws, and, to be quite frank, the nuisance of their general ineptitude and veiled threats leaves me no choice but to address you personally. Arianna has no doubt informed you of the impending threat of a formian assault upon Sanctuary. These creatures number in the hundreds, and are fully capable of forming the gravest threat to Sanctuary's defense since the affair involving Traensyr's wrath over a year ago. That assault was averted, but it is my full belief that the formians' might will not. Sanctuary's defenders-the Watch-are thus in need of unvarnished assistance from your Order. With your reputation already on the verge of being shattered by the bumbling actions of your Agents, and the near-concrete appearance taking form that your Order is merely a haven for inept, petty mages who cannot conceal their blatantly dangerous schemes against Sanctuary proper, I believe you will agree that the following requests I make of your Order are of benefit to both Sanctuary and the Machine Zone.
-A minimum of six heavy defender animatrons are to be transferred to defensive duties near the Upper Gate. Arianna promised me two, but I fear two simply will not be sufficient.
-Animatron patrols near the Machine Zone are to be reinforced and prepared for any formian assaults that might be made from the abandoned ruins of the Dunwarren metropolis.
-All Watch equipment currently in need of recharging by the Spellguard-including Defender Amulets, Guard Rods, and other armor/equipment-will be recharged by the Spellguard for a nominal (at cost) fee to be paid by the Watch. In addition, the Watch will purchase any surplus Defender Amulets, Guard Rods, and armor/equipment that the Spellguard may produce before the formian invasion for a fair and reasonable sum.
-Former Councilor Aledrec of Yhaunn is to be subdued and arrested into Watch custody on sight in your Machine Zone, should he show himself there again; your Agents are to cease granting him refuge in the Machine Zone, interfering with the Watch's efforts to apprehend him, and assisting him in whatever fell acts he is conspiring against Sanctuary. As a petty tyrant who attempted to subvert Sanctuary's government, Yhaunn is a persistent and annoying threat to Sanctuary's security; the Order reaps no benefit from assisting or harboring him, and only serves to further irreparably damage its relations with Sanctuary by doing so.
-Any and all assassinations or conspiracies directed against me in order to obtain the Machine Keys I am believed by your Order to possess are to cease immediately, upon pain of death for any of your Agents or Associates who refuse to comply. I am uncertain why your Agents are so inane as to believe that I would still have these Keys in my possession after they made it readily apparent that they would acquire them at any cost, but their repeated efforts to take them from me have grown tiresome. Sennik failed, his pathetic spy Dedrick failed-but to avoid digression, the simple fact is that it would be incredibly foolish to consider bringing irrevocable harm to the Watch officer currently organizing a defense against the formian threat. I also have no real desire to waste my supplies killing proxies, when they will be needed for a far more serious threat. If your Order truly wishes to learn what I know of these keys, then it should consider proving itself trustworthy with that information, rather than trying to broker absurd plans or take them by force from an officer responsible for the defense of Sanctuary.
The above requests may be complicated, but all of them are integral to assuring the defense of Sanctuary against this formian threat. The Watch needs animatron steel and the necessary equipment and compliance to defeat these invaders; the Order needs to show that its committment to Sanctuary's defense has not turned into blithe disregard for the city by its Agents. Provide us with what we wish, and both the Watch and the Order benefit-and Sanctuary is protected. I would encourage you to show this to Arianna, but please leave her as the sole emissary between us concerning this threat; I have neither the time nor the inclination to deal with the rantings or the bumblings of Blimfrickten or Hectra.
