My Super Fun Scripted Quest.

I was in town looking for a quest because i was bored and wanted loot and exp.

some one said 'there are gnolls in the mines'.

i thought 'o no not again', my character says 'yeah, i'll kick there butts'.

but we got there, and we couldnt do it!

someone says, 'there are trogs near the dark lake'

someone else says, 'we need more people'

another person says, 'naw! let's just do it anyway!"

so off we venture. One warrior, one archer/warrior and two mages.

it was a challange, but we beat the tribe leader and killed every trog in the cave.

omigod. this was the best scripted quest i have done with a party for a loooooong time - the magical tatics used and the rp made it soo much fun. Spells to slow enemies down, to put them to sleep and summons to take the damage whilst the rest of us run like hell were just brilliant.

so first of all I would like to says thanks for the three players who did the quest with me - i know we all enjoyed it

secondly a guess i just wanted to post this as an example towards the fact maybe that you shouldn't always follow the typical boring procedure for a minor quest (get 3 or so front liners, get mage, get as many people as posssible ect...).

doing something a slightly different can make quests so much more challanging, enjoyable and ten times more satisfying at the end. way better than loot or exp!

It's fun to have 2 or 3 buddies around your level that are smart and use their skills to empower the rest of the team.

The usual sending for gnolls is repetitive. It would be great if there could be an earthquake hint hint wink wink and the area becomes collapsed and maybe some other stronger type of enemies clear it out and make it a different area.

This is sort of already happening, A95! :P Check the mines.

I know it's already happening, but not that many people do it or help out the team, they are more i have healing but you don't get any cause your not me.

And I know Team Urdlen.

As much as I hate to derail our Phoenix's post, your post makes no sense to me. To clarify (I don't think this is spoilerific) a Flind moved in with it's xenophobic tribe, and the quest is currently being reworked. I'm not sure where your Team Urdlen reference comes from.

I think it was a post thanking the group of people Astral quested with for doing the abnormal questing group.

Then I imagine it was about telling the rest of the server they should stop pre-guessing party sizes and types for quests they should never have heard about. >_> Somehow I think the second was more leaning towards it is more fun to do it with an unusual group struggling to make things work, over the expected group slaying things cause they are in a team predestined for such effectiveness on the quest..

It's really fun to do quests with un-optimized parties.

Remember doing quests with "Joe Blogs" as muscle.... That's speak for itself, doesn't it? <_<

All mage parties on quests are some of the most interesting!

And can be quite effective!

This has got to be Phoenix's strangest post ever.

whut?!

its not strange!

i am sharing my greatness with the forums.

and yes i am simply showing an example of how a small different party vs the normal big party can make a huge difference on rp exprience on quests you have done a thousand times before.

and that i urge that players try it out now and again if you are the type who likes to take the large beefy party on quests.

(p.s. this has very little to do with the gnoll quest, its about what i have mentioned above)

(p.p.s. i am also looking foward to see what this new 'gnoll quest' could be)

(p.p.p.s. i am also scared what the new 'gnoll quest' could be...)

AstralPhoenix!

Small parties who share supplies are the ultimate XP trains.

Mort It's really fun to do quests with un-optimized parties.

Mort and I did the ettin camp with his fourth level drow and my 5th level goblin cleric...it was a riot.

Sometimes pushing the envelope is a blast...sometimes it wipes a party. And sometimes it gets you mad DM attention XD Try it sometime!

Well, that's no fun...

best party: 4 Druids

each with 1 pet and one summon = party of 12

run through quest with heals and summons.

rinse and repeat on all the quests in your level range.

Best Party, 8 druids, 16 members, pwnage.

I'm still trying to rally a Party of 8, 20 STR Half-Orc Fighters in Full Plate with Tower shields wielding Bastard Swords. We will own this server together...and oh yea, they must constantly say "Bring on the Smashies".

I wrote "post", Daz.

RPing with a high MGS was always... interesting.
