Maybe the question i am asking poped up some time ago and i apologize if so but i was wondering if it would make sense for Evil Char to cast Protection against evil (e.g is it considered to be lame or metagaming?) since most of the creatures attacking you in the dark would be evil (or neutral)?

I mean it would make sense for an evil char to think: most good people ( G aligned char ) would not attack him/her unless they have a very good reason (except maybe for very fanatic good priests / paladins) for it.

And to replace it in the context, lots of quests on the server involves natural evil creatures (or at least neutral).

On the other side it would strenghen the RP of an evil char to protect him/herself against Good but doesn't this represent an OOCly advantage in regular quests for Good aligned char?

I hope this was clear enough, i really would like your opinion on that question.

You can cast Protection From Good or Evil whenever you like, regardless of what alignment you are. Feel free to cast anytime!
