Letter to Seeker Jamie, Seeker Mason, Seeker Hatnine (DM/PC)

This lengthy letter is handed to Seeker Jamie, with copies for the others.

Good day,

It is with a tired hand that I write this letter to you. I have travelled many miles, and many hours to assure I was able to pass this information to you.

While investigating the tunnels beneath Lower, I came across a group of odd individuals near a Svirfneblin door. In their number was a large muscular orc, an odd goblin with a book hanging from his side, a helmed female elf with a whip about her right arm, and another helmed female of possible elven heritage.

They spoke of preparing for some type of task, and set out for a ladder leading into the southern streets near Mycopolis. The one with the whip spoke with a throaty command voice, to which the others responded instantly. I believe this female elf to be an agent of the Spider Queen. With this thought in mind, I followed them closely. They moved up the forementioned ladder, and through the streets south of Mycopolis. They followed a series of streets, that brought them to a tunnel.

The tunnel itself is one of the unguarded routes in and out of the city. A group of gnolls holds an old gate down the tunnel, but did little to stop this unusual group from passing through. Once passed the gate, they continued into an area that leads to the gate road. Amusingly, they were forced to run quickly ahead as a deep lizard had taken to standing about in the area.

Once on the gate road, they travelled west further into the dark. They continued their way down the ridgelines, and ultimately into the area known as the Spire. From there, they travelled through a cave tunnel that leads to the High Road.

At the High Road, they travelled down the northern slope and approached the Seeker known as Haukson. Witnessing the exchange from the above ridgeline, I could see them agreeing to something as they turned west and north towards a well known goblin fortress. At this time I moved down the ridgeline and spoke with the Seeker.

Identifying myself with the amulet of the Brotherhood, I had asked the Seeker if he noted anything unusual about the group. He said he payed little attention to their appearance, as they had agreed to assist in assaulting the goblin fortress. He suggested I follow them, after stating my belief an agent of the Spider Queen was amongst them.

Taking the Seeker's suggestion to heart, I followed the group into the heart of the goblin fortress. They were quick to cut there way through the goblins that protected the gate of their fortress. When I had caught up with them, they were deep inside the fortress being attacked by skeletons and goblins. The orc laid motionless on the ground and the other female ,of possible elven heritage, laid out motionless on the stairs. It was at this time that goblins, I believe, might have heard me moving amongst them. Not wanting to risk being revealed to the remaining two, I moved back up the stairs and pass the remaining female and goblin. They were quickly applying salves, and drinking potions, to heal their wounds. The goblin made reference that " The Wretch did not see the trap ".

With the knowledge of the group I had gathered, I moved back up through the fortress and down the ridgeline that lead to it. I took cover behind a raised rock near to the entrance pass of the fort, and awaited the group to return. After some time, and to my surprise, all four of the group had walked back from the fort. Apparently the wounds of the orc and other female were not severe enough to have succumb to them. They returned to speak with Seeker Haukson, and then scattered quickly into the dark.

I made the long trek back to the city, and set to writing this lengthy encounter. In hindsight of the events, it is my belief the tunnel leading from the city to the wilds must be sealed. Far to many creatures of ill intent have surely taken to using this well known path in and out of the city. Furthermore, as undoubtedly in the past, agents against the city use the tunnels beneath Lower to move unnoticed. Perhaps the trapdoor from the southern streets, into the Lower tunnels can be sealed. That would at least force any of ill intent to travel through Lower proper, before taking to the tunnels.

My thanks for taking the time to read this lengthy encounter, and if anything else need be known about it you have but to ask me. Praise be the Ascension, and good day.

Respectfully,

Sorrell Greyn
