Speech given by Elrithilia

[Elrithilia stands atop the podium as she calmly gazes down at her small audience, she speaks in a loud, clear voice]

Greetings citizens of Sanctuary, I am Elrithilia Tir'ein and I offer myself to fill the void left behind by this city's previous councillors who had lost sight of their goals and chose instead to use their power to further their own interests and not that of the people. I tell you now, people of Sanctuary that if you vote for me this will not be the case, I would work tirelessly to further the interests of Sanctuary and her people. Many of you will ask why you should trust an Elf--an outsider--with the fate of this city and it's people. I shall answer this question by asking you to look at what your past councillors--all of whom were humans--did! They were easily corrupted by the power that came with their position and soon lost interest in the very cause which they sought to protect and uphold!

Sanctuary stands at the brink of war, it is beset by enemies both from within and without, the Drow of Traensyr grow strong once more as they are united under the banner of this new Matron Mother, it is only a matter of time before they turn their predatory gaze towards our city and see the weakened state it is in. And what will they see? They would see a city which has been weakened by it's so called leaders, a city that has willingly divided itself in numerous groups, a city which is forced to rely upon pathetic creatures such as kobolds and their "Master" for protection! Do you all truly believe that our former masters will -let- such a tempting opportunity slip right out of their vile fingers? No! They will take advantage of our current weakened state and pounce upon us like wolf on a wounded sheep.

Should I be elected to council I shall see to the prompt removal of those trecherous lizards from our gates, we do not need to pay homage to that overgrown lizard, Etorix for protection! For by doing so we would only subject ourselves to yet another form of slavery. We have a cave system near our city which is a veritable treasure-trove of much needed resources, all we need are able hands to bring the metal to us, the kobolds and their "Master" are not required for that.

And then, there is the issue which is the driving force behind my campaign, the unification of Sanctuary and it's people. As I said before, our foes will not fail to take notice of us and our current state, they -will- take advantage of our weakness and what will we do then? What shall we do when they come knocking at our very doorstep? We are in no condition to wage another war with Traensyr, not if we remain as we are, it would be better to just open our gates and pray for mercy.

I ask that you stop your pointless bickering amongst each other and unite to face our common foe, the Drow. Should I be made Councillor, I will see to the unification of Sanctuary, I would lead Sanctuary into a new era of prosperity and ensure it's long-term safety, but I believe that I have said enough for now, I shall let you ponder over what was said and I can only hope that you will make the right choice when the time for voting has come.

[At the conclusion of the speech, Elrithilia is seen patiently answering any questions asked of her by the audience, copies of the speech are scattered throughout Sanctuary]
