To whom it may concern,
As you are no doubt aware, I have been declared a traitor to the city of Sanctuary by the sheriff Azzam. In this act of political terror, he has sundered a council which sought only to bring back the tradition of the mayor. His charges against me are fraudulent and slanderous. I have never sought to destroy Sanctuary or its legal institutions. The law we passed was designed to strengthen Sanctuary by clearly stating the rules of succession, as well as allowing accountability and safeguarding against corruption. This was no conspiracy of anarchists or assassins. Likewise his claims of collusion with drow are a transparent attempt to try and muddle the issue in the minds of the common man. To verify this I suggest you ask Roarin Blimfrickten, one of your associates, who was witness to the events that sparked this rumour. He might also act as something of a general character reference, including my support for the Spellguard’s work.
I know from conversations with various of your number that you have found Azzam’s actions and words to be troublesome in the past. So I ask you this, will your members be hunting me also? Am I also a dead man if I step into your territory, or may I find sanctuary (sic) there? I do not seek to bring strife between the Magiocracy and Old Town by my presence, and if you grant me safety, I would be discrete in my comings and goings.
If you have a reply, leave it at any one of the towns inns addressed to the Carmine Templar, and I will have someone collect it for me.
My thanks, Aledrec of Yhaunn.
