Blubie Greenhill's Studies.

[A simplistic rothe-hide bound book. The pages within, made of fine zurkwood, are filled with a flowing and unextraordinary text.]

Topic: Underdark. I've recently found myself in the Underdark. A rather dreadful place, filled with dour people cowering behind high walls, and horrific things banging just outside said walls. Not much light is used here, and that which is must be used with caution, so as to not alert any passing scouts for an enemy. Most people seem more than willing to gut you, or take you as their possession here. Further caution in study would be advised.

Topic: Duergar - Gray Dwarves - Underdark Dwarves Evil, bitter, and monsterous perversions of their surface kin. I've had horrible encounters with them, in which they took me as a slave and tortured me for entertainment. They quite clearly seem to favor bringing pain to their minions and thralls, typically the smaller and weaker. I witnessed human children under their lashes many times, and never wish to see it again. Defiance didn't quite bring instant death, though, which was a fortunate thing in my case. Objection came about to the suffering of a young human girl once, which lost me my eye. They tend to brand their slaves as 'Runt' or 'Ratling'. Further research: After speaking with what I'm sure was a Shield Dwarf, whom may have also been a Gold Dwarf, Tolni the Twinklebound, I learned a brief histroy of the Duergar. And that other manners of Dwarfkin hate them with a vengance. The Duergar were once a clan of Shield Dwarves, whom betrayed their kin. As of such, a war began - Fuelled by greed, Tolni added - Which ended with the Duergar retreating into the Underdark. They then had an unfortunate encounter with Illithrid (See: Mind Flayers), which resulted in them being taken as slaves. They freed themselves, although they gained something from the Illithrid. Known innate traits: Able to communicate mentally (Illithrid experiment, likely.), able to turn insivible at will(Unexplained.)

Topic: Gnomes Wonderful folk. There are two variants I am currently aware of; Rock Gnomes and Svirfneblin. Rock Gnomes are very, very amusing. Though their names are far too long to record in full. They seem to favor illusionary magic, and are never short on jokes. Though they seem just slightly too care-free to me, even beyond that of my own kind. I've no information on Svirfneblin currently, save for that they built the city I am sheltering in. (See: Sanctuary) The gnomes of Sanctuary appear to be focused upon making a 'Haven' for themselves. I can only hope that they'll allow others to walk there, as I would like more than anything to be allowed to see, perhaps even study, a gnomish society. Make-shift as it may be.

Topic: Illithrid Creatures that enslaved the Duergar in the past. They are, fortunatly, rarely found. Though I've heard gossip of their thralls about the street (See: Sanctuary), I've never quite encountered such. There is a current lack on information. Known innate traits:Amazingly powerful mental abilities.

Topic: Sanctuary Filled with dour, slightly insane, and very frightful refugees and ex-slaves, this city facinates me. Founded by two brothers whom led a band of ex-slaves, much like its current inhabitants. One of these brothers supposedly left seeking the surface; I expect the fool met with the fate awaiting outside these walls. The city was origionally build by Svirfneblin (See: Gnomes), though for some reason or another it was abandoned. Also origionally called 'Dunwarren'. The two sections of Sanctuary; Upper and Lower, were once a whole, but have now parted. Upper being named as 'Old Sanctuary,' Lower keeping its name. Surely enough, the rich and greedy inhabit Upper, while the poor and diseased inhabit Lower. Fueds between the two are common. Unsurprizingly, the human nature to destroy itself is dominate in a place mostly inhabited by humans.

- The findings of Blubie Greenhill, under the working name of Tyrmas.

Topic: Spirit-Bound Amulet Discovered in the clutches of undead. It is, basically, an amulet which has a spirit trapped within it, able to be summoned to the user's service. A mix of Enchantment and Necromancery, the dominate school being Necromancery. Paladins refer to this item as 'Evil'. It denies some people to use it; a powerful burning sensation is felt in the head when it is attempted. After the spirit has been summoned once, the amulet destroys itself.

Topic: Paladins - 'Chosen Warriors' Absolute fools. They allow their inflated egos and deity's dogma to get in the way of all else. Some may say it's devotion, though my theory is that they like people thinking that they're better than all else. They state to be 'chosen warriors' of their gods. Recently, I've met one that claims to be a paladin of the Wary Sword, though he clearly favors other races over his own. Though he does seem more than willing to lay down his life for others, to the point where it's a flaw; holding off undead when he is aware it shall result in death, when he could have easily fled. I do not understand the morality of it; it stricks me as idiocy

Topic: Gloves of the Ghoul Another necromantic relic, this one is embued into simple gloves. When the magic in these gloves is activated, it drains the target of his energy. A spell of Ghoul Touch has the exact same effect.

Topic: Enchanted Goblin Ear Found in the company of Rindle the gnome illusionist, and Tolni the dwarven loremaster, this item was studied briefly. Tolni gave a brief, insufficiant explanation, before I felt inclined to dispose of the item.
