Large weapons.

There seems to be a fad at the moment to walk around with large weapons in Upper and if challenged by an authority, to then explain that there is no place a polearm/stick/two-bladed sword could be placed. It will not fit in a pack, and I cannot lash it to my back because it is taller than the character etc. etc.

Is putting large weapons in the inventory an OOC convinence mechanism or not? I know Oro and I argued about this (with others) a while back. I thought it was decided that all weapons could be sheathed/put away despite seeming to break the laws of physics.

I don't mind either way, I would just like to know.

They can of course be put away, but I don't know why authority is challenging anyone over it in the first place!

They can be slung at an angle or sideways or longways or whatever. Yes, they should jab people while you walk, and make passing through doorways interesting. But your arm can clip through walls, so collisions? Not a big concern (of mine).

If we didn't want people putting large weapons away "into their bottomless pack", we could enforce it by script. I think we'd rather treat it like an unwritten detail taken for granted. It makes emoting your hand going towards your unrepresented (visually) weapon more important when it becomes an object of interest.

People who use polearms and greatswords/greataxes usually sling them across their back using a holster/scabbard of some description. So yes, they can be 'put away'.

Crystal clear now. Thanks all who responded.
