citizens,
It has been brought to my attention that some idiots want to blame the Stouts for the riot in lower.
Here is a factual account of the events that lead to the riot.
After recovering from my mugging by those Ledskir swine and seeing that Dakul & Sully had been released from jail, Sgt. Sunellar requested that we assemble the clan and go with him into lower as on of the bandits had been spotte in the Pissing Crone.Rolph & Baltazar joined us as waell as a Seeker named Harold and some rather rude elven woman. We proceeded to In between where we waited for about 10 minutes dickering around. I spoke with Agent Sennik briefly about what had transpired previously and he gave covert assistance to us.
We finally got moving although it must be said that Sunellar had no real clear plan of action and at no time did he give any direct orders to us about how to proceede in Lower. We downed invisibility potions and went below.
We entered the 'Crone only to find a few mouthy locals and were fairly quickly turfed out by the pubs Ogre bouncer. Our quarry had eluded us because we'd spent too much time up In Between mucking about.
After leaving the 'Crone, the Sergent seemed unsure as to what to do next. He sent a couple of people to check the tunnels. Unfornuately, by this stage, his invisibility had worn off and residents of Lower recognised his watch uniform. In short order rotten fruit and insults were being hurled at us but we held our ground and did not retaliate. It became evident that our quarry had escaped and so we began to move back towards the stairs as the mood of the crowd was turning very ugly and weapons appeared in the hands of members of the crowd.
Sergent Sunellar then began to confront a helmed man who was abusing him with insults like " Go on & f*ck off pig" and other such epithets. Sunellar demanded the man remove the helm, to which the rude man refused. Meanwhile the armed crowd had grown in size and it's palpable anger at the watchman's presecence was rising expedentially. The confrentation between the sergent & the man escalated till suddenly a blow was struck by one of the Lower mob against Rolph and the riot kicked off. We were defending ourselves from harm and had to fight back.
It was a short and nasty fight and unfortunately Baltazar was killed in the melee. The stouts wrote great harm on the rioters as they were mostly unarmoured but still had intent to kill. Crazed cultists joined the fraccas killing indescriminatly and Sunellar gave counter-manding orders, first ordered a retreat then an attack.
We had to retrive Baltazars body quickly and we'd managed to disperse the rioters with extreme prejudice. We headed back up the stairs where Sergent Sunelarr announced that we were all to be arrested and he sent Dakul, myself and Rolph to Jail.
He held us dwarves entirely accountable for the riot and refused to accept any responsibility for his lack of clear & concise orders nor did he acknowledge the fact that it was his presence that provoked the crowd into rioting.
I need not have to point out that a riot is an ugly & uncontrolable thing and those that took part as rioters had murder in their hearts and knew well the possibilities of what could occur. Their brought their deaths upon themselves. It is regretable that chaotic & evil elements used the cover of the riot to murder inocents but they paid for their crime with swift high justice.
I will submit therefore that the stouthearts were not to blame for the riot. The Stouts are warriors, not police and act like warriors when confronted by armed opponents. They do their best to survive and kill the enemy, that is what a trained warrior does.
Sergent Sunellar did not have a clear plan of action nor did he have command of the situation. This is evident as the consequnces plainly demonstrate.
So there you have it people, that is what happenned. Quite frankly if you believe rumours or accept second or third hand information as gospell truth from Moradin himself, then you're a naive fool.
If you weren't there then you will never know what truly happenned and any idle specualtion as to who is to blame is akin to the act of mental masterbation, which I may add, not that good for you and is regarded by some circles as sinful.
