William Firethorn, Last Stand Inn

Commander Firethorn,

Your mercenaries suitably impressed me during our entrapment and subsequent escape at the hands of the Traensyrian hunting party. Provide me with a list of the names of your men who were with us, and I will see their names added to the Reserve listing, and then send you a contract that will be permanent and in full effect between us. Those of your men whom I have yet to meet may visit me at their leisure for inspection and addition to the Reserve roster.

-Sergeant Sunellar

(The letter is redirected to the Griffon Camp)

Sir,

here follows a list of the personnel I am assigning to the job. Of the following, unless my memory is mistaken - all were present but Griffon Derkk. The following will be assigned:

Captain Jerome, Sergeant Doyle, Corporal Unebril, Griffon Sephka, Griffon Derkk, Griffon Kharl.

Griffon Derkk is of halforc race, but a true and loyal warrior who will follow your instructions, even if they are his own undoing. If there is a problem with him, inform me of the reason and I shall find a more suitable replacement.

at your service Commander William Firethorn

Commander Firethorn,

My arrangement is for the entirety of your mercenary company, not simply six of them. If this is a problem, then it would appear we have yet more negotiations to conduct before I can finalize a contract between us-and you can continue getting paid.

-Sergeant Sunellar

Clarification: These are the ones I am assigning to the job of a rapid reaction team - to be at all times "standing ready" as the guaranteed minimum of six men. Of course, the entire Griffon Red will be comming you way asap. for inspection and enrollment into the list, and everyone under my command will be standing ready to help in case of crisis.

Commander W.F.

Letter sent shortly before Will's infamous departure...

Allow me to be quite blunt, Sergeant.

I no longer hold the means to fullfill our agreement - nor do I, I feel, particularly desire to. While it appears true that you aided the Griffon against our foe, I feel not particularly inclined to thank you.

Your actions have seen my Uncle's body not returned to us and thus beyond all rescue, and painted us as your cronies. At the same time, you appear to have instigated my men to mutiny, since some (I shall write no names of the guilty) have committed vile treason and took off with promises of "watch recruitment and favors" - under the watchful eye of present Seekers and Watchmen, taking all credit for the actions of the Griffon Red in past and present. My sister is missing, and nowhere to be found. Our equipment lost, and we ourselves because of lack of diplomacy banned from the grounds we had hoped to inhabit. The Seekers have done nothing but encourage infighting and animosity, and have been greatly assisting in allowing the Fog of War to settle like a blanket over all reason.

I find little place to turn to for assistance in this hour of need - wherever it lies, it definately does not lie with Sanctuary. We thought that we might assist, help, and perhaps find allies amongst your number - yet I only see treason and double-faced egocentrism. We're leaving. For good. And if we leave alive, I shall be surprised.

William Firethorn
