-Clan Stoutheart-

Dwarf of Stoutheart

Your needless selling of Kuo-toan goods troubles many. While you may not be actively involved in selling slaves, or capturing them, you support the Kuo-toan efforts in doing such. You provide them with easy access to coin to fund their slaving and most heinous ways. You sell their goods so they don't have to- so that they get more profit from more sources. You allow yourselves to be their contacts in the city, being manipulated by them. The Kuo-toans are a force of evil, chaos, disorder. They do not care for you, they care for your coin. While some of the posters around the city may be radical and perhaps even slanderous, the base of them are true- you are selling items for the Kuo-toans. I would be more than happy to meet with your leaders to discuss this further, though there is little to discuss and letters move more swiftly than words. Until then:

Cease and desist, by order of the Law.

Sir Alabaster Rubyglow Earl of Gnomekind

Sir Alabaster Rubyglow

Thank you for your letter.

I imagine that you are refering to the posters that have been placed anonymously around Sanctuary. As you state these are complete lies, apart from the fact that we are importing Kuo-Toan goods.

If our settlement were on the surface i would not trade with the Kuo-Toa. We do not endorse their behaviour or activities. I would ask that you consider a few things though before rushing to judgements.

Firstly, the items imported from the Kuo-Toa help the people and defenders of Sanctuary, they are one of our contributions to life in Sanctuary. Via this trade we employ many to run errands to the Blue Mushroom, and Krovus himself was without work before we offered this post to him. Many people also sell goods to Krovus for which he gives good prices, the evidence is clear by the amount of stock he seems to have!

Secondly, the Kuo-Toa are far better trading partners than any other race in the underdark that we are aware of, would you prefer we trade with Drow, Duergar, Beholders or Illithids maybe?

If you know of some other race we can trade with please tell us, we would be most interested to hear of them.

Thirdly, the Kuo-Toa are neutral to our settlement, in fact, following the successful destruction of a drow pirate ship by a number of Sancturian Adventurers they are relativily open to us as a settlement.

Fourthly, i know they do not care for us and we do not care for them, the purpose of the importing is to make Sancturary rich and better able to defend itself and also, hopefully make our Clan richer and better able to support the defence of our town.

Fifthly, we are not trading FOR the Kuo-Toa, as you state. We buy their goods, and sell them ourselves via our long standing and respected Sancturian trader Krovus. If you extend the logic of your request all people of Sanctuary should be BANNED from going to the Fish Folk isle and buying any of their items, because that is all we are doing. Is this what you wish?

Sixthly, everyone is Sanctuary is able to exercise choice. If you do not wish to buy cheap, useful items, weapons and potions then that is your choice. You may have the money to go to more expensive traders? We offer a service to Sancturary for those individuals and organisations who cannot afford the prices elsewhere. Given the amount of trade we do, much of Sanctuary seems to agree with us.

One final point is that, as i am sure you know, my kind do not easily take 'Orders' from other races, who as far as i am aware have no legal standing, so please cease and desist such instructions.

Your politeness intrigues me! I did not expect such eloquence from a dwarf. Your points confuse me, because I see no validation in any of them. These items do not help the people of Sanctuary. They are a few items, imported at much cost, to the city of Sanctuary. This is an insult against your own people! You are much finer metal crafters, and there is an amazing opportunity for you, as a race, right now, to prove it! The public forge requires citizens to produce strong arms and armors. The clan Stoutheart can do this as a civil service to provide cheap, patriotic, arms and armors, and not deal with slavers. Selling items to Krovus is no problem to me! Though it may reduce your profits.

For your second point! The Kuo-toans are slavers. I prefer trading with none of them. Just because they are hiding their evil intent does not mean that I wish to trade with them! And neither should you. You should find the settlements of the svirfneblin to trade with, my long lost cousins. I have several leads on where to find them, but few who wish to search. For your third point, merely because they are neutral does not mean they are not slavers, or would turn us to the Drow if they got more money! It would be horrible to be thrown back into slavery. Sabctuary will not get rich on the blood of slaves, or fill the money bags of slavers. Your clan should pursue the idea I suggested for armors and arms to make itself "richer" or "benefit sanctuary"! Not trade with slavers.

It is what I wish! No one should trade slaver Kuo-toan goods! Any goods that are purchased makes them richer. And richer, for more slaves. Do you want to return to slavery? I don't.

The abberant dwarf merchant sold cheap, magical armors for Intryzz. They were cheaper than normal, and more powerful. You are saying that he should be supported because he sells items cheaply! This is filth, and disgusting! I would like to know statistics on the "amount of trade" that you do. If you cannot produce such, then I believe what you say is poppywash! I see most people browsing the wares in disgust, thinking that something is fishy. Besides the smell eminating from the goods.

You claim not to take orders from others, but you take orders from the members of the watch.

*a short note is written*

Sir Alabaster Rubyglow

I stopped reading when you commenced racist slurs against my kind, which you made in the first and second sentences.
