Hi, i have recently created a character who is a big wine drinker. The current system is fine, but it would add to the detail of the RP if a small change was made. You see, very few people drink a whole bottle of wine in one sitting straight out of the bottle. So i recommend that a full bottle of wine has a "Unique power 1/charge per use" that, when used, gives you the spell icon that you can use on a person. The person you use it on gets what we currently use for wine but renamed "Glass of -wine type-" and sees the message "[person pouring] pours you a glass of [wine type] wine". The bottle would have a number of charges (glasses of wine) depending on the size of the bottle.
That would make it so people could pour everyone a glass of wine at a meeting, or just bring it along a quest.
And, maybe add a few more expensive wines also?
maybe too complicated to be worth it, but i know it would add to my RP at least.

I like this idea. The more expensive ales/wines could have more charges, or less harsh 'negatives' or something like that.
Funny, but I got a raging drunk as a PC right now. To be honest, even downing the free drink as often as I do gets expensive, so I'm all for improved getting shitfaced mechanics ;)
Also maybe the duration of alchohol effects might be extended...or only be removed on sleeping. I can drink 3 ales without any effects, if I don't drink another one near right away, the DC goes back down rather, in my opinion, too quickly.
I love me brews!

Or you can just set the wine bottle on the table and type:
"[person pouring] pours you a glass of [wine type] wine".

Yep.
As far as getting drunk, that is up to you as a roleplayer. Act as drunk as you think your char would be. Not what the icons in the corner show you!

Well, I think that's the whole point of the DC's to resist the alchohol. To give mechanics to tell you how drunk you are.

In that case, maybe becoming *very* drunk should cast 'confusion' on you so that your character starts attacking others in the bar :)

Now that's what I call realism...let's implement that right away. ;)

Wow. Run away topic. From glasses of wine to raging drunks in 6 posts. :!:
The confusion idea, should be a 40% of the time confusion, 40% fear, 20% sleep, lol. :P

the problem with the confusion idea is that npc's will go hostile and wont stop attacking you till either of you are dead..
oh and the last time i went to a bar, the ale WAS really expensive!

Wouldn't it simpler just to roleplay these effects?(Lazy people!) Just another thing that will clog up the server for little gain I think.

Why don't you just RP everything? We don't need mechanics! Let's LARP!
Such a cop out.
There's already mechanics in place for drinking. This is just a thread for suggested improvements to those mechanics.

Gah! How did we get stuck on effects? The thing in question is wine bottles, not vodka chugging contests, WINE!!! :P
