Ever wanted to do something while playing, maybe talk on MSN, or simply Actually do some work, but found that it was too annoying Swithcing out of NWN? well I can teach you how to play in a window, so that switching out, does not leave the annoying black screen for a moment, before opening your desktop, and other open programs.
Step 1: open your neverwinter nights folder.
This is usually in C: Neverwinter Nights/NWN
Step 2: Look for Nwn.ini
This should be in the main folder of neverwinter nights
Step 3: Open nwn.ini
Just double clicking it should open it, with a text editor like notepad or wordpad.
If not, Simply right click nwn.ini, and press open with.
Select notepad from the list, and press OK
Step 4 :
Find the line that says Fullscreen = 1
And underneath that Put
AllowWindowedMode=1
Then, to change back and forth from full to window, all you need to do is Change the fullscreen = 1 line
1= full
0= Window
Step 5: Save the file, and play!
Once you have done this, you can shift in and out of fullscreen by pressing ALT +ENTER("return" on some keyboards)

Thanks. I think I will try this. Does it make the play area smaller or does it simply enable Alt-Tab to get you to the desktop....I guess I'll find out ;)

I use this method, but sometimes when I do it in multiplayer the game loses the connection with the server. :(

Neat! Doubt I'll play in this mode often, as there are several disadvantages (diminished navigation controls, much smaller field of vision, etc.), but can come in handy when RP'ing my elves and wishing to look up elven phrases in an adobe acrobat file.
I'm not sure I understand what changing the fullscreen=1 line does. It didn't seem to have any effect - my system behaved the same, regardless of whether I had it =1 or =0.
