Letter to Agent Sennik left at Spellguard Tower

Greetings Agent Sennik,

A recent matter occured that seemed to involved a vareity of strange creatures, odd magics, and unique situations. I believe a formal report of this matter would aid the tower. As no agent was present I would like to present this report to aid the Spellguard.

If this is suitable I will drop off the report at the tower at my earliest convience. This is seperate of our previous discussion about my research, as that is on a seperate topic and going quite well at the moment.

I hope the Dark finds you well Alarond Blackwell

Mr. Blackwell,

That report would be appreciated. Good luck on your task.

Agent Sennik

*A rather formal looking stack of documents are left with Mr.Barkely by Alarond. It appears to be on paper purcased from the scribe. The hand writing is flourished. The first page gives a account, and the other pages give numbers, and creature types.*

Saultations Spellguard,

This report is on an event I will here by refer to as, The Dead Rising. Time will be left to your offices as I am having trouble adjusting to full night time in these surroundings. Still it was the past eve these events occurred. Numbers and other such statistical data can be found on the back pages.

The incident first started when a man named Sir Xander, hired a young watchwoman named Private Cassey and myself to investigate the disappearance of a man named Mr.Boggs at the local factory. We seemed up to the challenge and his disappearance raised a variety of questions.

Upon our initial arrival the outside of the factory was littered with corpses. We entered with caution to find the workers had been raised into zombies. We fought our way through only to discover that Mr.Boggs himself had been turned into a zombie. After we dispatched him a series of bright red lights began to glow and flash around us. As we followed to the source we discovered a gentleman mumbling some sort of chant, draped in black robes. He had a small altar in front of him and from my best guess was channeling magic through it to summon the dead. Soon we were set upon by his creatures and exited in all haste.

At this stage I went to town hall to make a sending for the watch and other adventures to aid us as undead were pouring out of the factory killing citizens. The call was quickly responded and soon the Watch, and various adventuring sorts arrived to engage the undead. At first the undead seemed to continuously push us back, and a few of the watch and adventurers fell along with local citizens. After this initial set back though progress was made as several undead were dispatched.

The moment was short lived though as some man shouted something about Cyric, and a large golem made of bone emerged from the factory. Several lives were lost, and the battle was quite long, but elemental arrows and a flame enchantment on a man’s weapon seemed to aid in felling the creature. After it was dispatched several went in, and a few including myself, remained without.

Eventually the rest of us went in do to the number of undead reports from with in the factory. Others moved forward and it was a slow and arduous process. Eventually the source was found and the dead summoner was dispatched after a harsh battle. He put up quite a fight and seemed quite skilled at hand to hand combat. A member of Torm cleansed the altar. Some keys were found on the corpse. The battle was ended and all went there separate ways.

I am unsure the repercussions of this upon the city and the tower. Still I thought a formal report should be issued as no member of the spell guard I could see was present.

*The following pages list various undead, skeleton priests, mages, and warriors. Along with ghouls, an enhanced ghoul, and mummies. One page lists an odd skeleton captain that glowed and put up quite a fight during the initial entry. The number seems to be just beneath seventy undead total.*

Sincerely, Alarond Blackwell
