Instant death isn't a fun effect.

Seriously. You guys have a quest, that I don't recall the name of, with a large water elemental in it (it involves a druid and a well). As the first spawn. Insta-killed four of us. If the server didn't crash that second, we would have been totally screwed.

What's the point of having a monster like that on a quest? Who finds that sort of thing enjoyable? My suggestion: Take it out. Please.

It has been confirmed that it was a mistake.

New qusts can go two ways. Far too easy or extremly hard. I'm geussing this one fits under the latter.

Yeah, it was a little sad when i opened the door, a water element came at us and drowned four of us ;)

TBH I'm glad that happened. :)

We finally get to the zone, probably the first ones doing the quest, open the door and first spawn included a large water elemental. Okay cool, OMG WTF *water elemental attempts to drown ...* *4 simultaneous death screams* "Wtf? I can't move, I'm not loading. Oh it crashed" Boom crash!

Could you give me the number of people in the party, and what levels they were? I'm surprised a large elemental spawned in that encounter. I'll also look at proximities to doors.

We had an 8, 2 5's, a 4, and whatever level Bug is.

Ahem, i was in there too :( lvl 7.

So there were 5 of you, and it only killed 4? Obviously I need a second elemental.

:P lol.

Make it three. We can't afford any mistakes this time.

I sort of wanted to see how long I'd last after everyone got owned. But the server never recovered -- they were all dead where they stood. Stripped naked by the death scripts but standing there as the server timed out. We didn't even get to take a single swipe at them.

I'm looking at recoding the drown scripts to take you to 0 hp instead of death.

If you did what someone else did once, which is add damage based on HD, you can use weaker water elementals without the massacring lower levels, and have tougher ones for higher levels, but they all retain the drown effect.

Your puny elemental could not harm Malik. It did it's little feeble 'aoe death' attack, and everything suddenly froze naked around me. And then the world ended. It was great. -The end.

I've changed several things on that quest. 1) Lowered difficulty of first encounter 2) Moved encounter from the door more. 3) Changed all elementals on that quest to use the drown spell instead of the drown pulse. This makes it so they affect a single target, and aren't instant death.
