I plan on running a variant of the IRC game "Mafia" tomorrow in #efumafia for as long as interest holds out. I plan on starting around noon US Central time (8PM GMT?). Hope to see you then!
PREMISE
An Illithid is enthralling villagers, and the local lord has called in a Paladin to prevent the domination of the town. Different actions occur during Day and Night phases.
ROLES
All roles are assigned by the local lord (OP) - some are secret, some are announced. Everyone is a Villager, except the Paladin (who is above participating in the lynch mob).
Thralls
- Members of a secret channel
- Each night they choose one victim through majority vote
- If the victim is guarded, they do nothing
- If the victim is unguarded, he/she joins them in thralldom
- Chooses one villager to guard each night
- If that villager is a thrall, he detects its evil and kills it
- The Paladin cannot be enthralled
- Each night they can spy on one villager
- Each day they can snitch about what they saw
- Each night they can read tea leaves for someone (including themselves) to see if they'll be attacked; they can then help a person flee to safety
- When he'd be lynched or enthralled, he can fight off attackers ONCE during the game
- Each day they discuss the odd behavior of their neighbors
- After two call for a lynch, voting begins; after a clear majority is reached, the local lord sends his executioner (no lynching without over a 50% vote)
WINNING
Illithid - The Illithid wins when half the village is enthralled and can overrun the Paladin.
Village - The Village wins when all the thralls are lynched and the Paladin senses no more evil.
