Krovus/Wily Williams/Jerry Boy/Harrison Suggestions

I'm looking to update several of our shops with a new assortment of flavorful items.

The merchants I'm focusing on currently are:

Krovus - Selling ware for Clan Stouthart, imported from the Kuo-Toan island of Loblobliiiblop.

Wily Williams - Filthy individual who sells rat and ratskin products.

Jerry Boy - Beggar who got lucky and sold off Mikkelson ware. His stock ran out and now he's looking to sell something new. Hopes that his son, who is in a gang of children known as the Sugar Sweets, can come up with or steal something for him to sell.

Harrison - Lower's smithy. Works with metal.

So with all this in mind, this is what I'm looking for. Similar to the Curio Shop Suggestions thread, I would like the help of you guys for ideas of unique items these fellows can sell. For Krovus, I'm looking for fishy stuff, Wily Williams ratty stuff, Jerry Boy anything interesting, and Harrison metal stuff. Remember, the items will be sold in shops, so don't make them epic. I want to focus on flavor, not power.

Also bear in mind that the more good properties placed on the item, the more expensive it will be. It's very difficult to control prices for shops in NWN. To help give perspective, Wily Williams sells a rat charm that does Summon Creatures I, rat theme. I think it costs ~250GP. The metal quarterstaff below costs ~2500GP. This is not because I have chosen to charge this much, but rather the toolset has for me. How convenient? I'll try to find a work around, but if nothing else they're interesting flavor items for people to ponder as they shop.

Please format all entries as shown in our example below. (Bear in mind that my examples are not very good ones.)

Our Example Rat Tail Whip Wily Williams

This whip has been made from the tail of a giant dire sewer rat. While it's very crude, it has the ability to summon a rat.

No disarm ability, but rather Summon Creatures I, rat theme.

Our Example II Metal Quarterstaff Harrison

This quarterstaff has the trademark of Harrison Steel on it. Because it is made of metal, it gives an extra punch.

Bludgeoning 1 Damage

I thank all of you in advance, and I'll try to repay the people with the most interesting entries as best I can.

Details 5 Charges 1 charge / use Summon I (Rat Theme) Weight increase (to make it like a cage your carrying filled with rats) Not adding this one, but I'll try to script in a bag of rats that will spawn five hostile sewer rats on a target location. This may be more interesting. -- Sternhund

Jerry Boy

Slightly Rusted Weapons -

Don't ask where I got it, I won't have to gut you.

- 1 Damage penalty - 1 Attack Bonus. Added Rusted Longsword v1050 -- Sternhund

Rusted Metal Shard Added v1050 -- Sternhund Jerry Boy

These rusted metal shards are fragments from the ruined scenery of Lower Sanctuary.

Although they are clearly still sharp, their odd metal shape makes them fragment upon impact against harder shells.

Jerry Boy and his crew gathered as many as they could find to sell to the local adventurer population. You can clearly see the initials "JB" encrusted within each of these rusty weapon.

[dart] -1 damage. 40% of original weight.

Fused Dual-Mace Added v1050 -- Sternhund Jerry Boy or Harrison

These two spiked maces were fused together using a svirfneblin powercore by an inventive Lowermen who decided it might be a good idea to hit someone twice instead of once.

Even though he died during the first experimentations, his prototype was refined and developed into an impressive weapon.

Remnants from the manufacturing gives the dual-mace an electrical charge, but that same charge also aid in conducting lightning which can have troublesome consequences...

[Dire Mace] +1 Electrical Dmg. 25% Electrical Vulnerability. +1 Intimidate. 1 Massive Critical.

Improvised Clubber Jerry Boy

These zhurkwood clubbers were built based on the remaints of ruined structures in Lower Sanctuary.

Their decrepit look gives any beggar holding one a strange desperate air, but if the stone do hit well, its poor conception may dislodge fragments of stone from the club for an extra 'punch'.

[club] -2 intimidate 2 Massive Critical.

Goo Bolt Added v1050, but it casts the spell grease instead. -- Sternhund Jerry Boy

These special bolts have been combined with a small sac full of slime substance. On impact, they explode covering their target in a green gooish substance that prevents them from running away for a short moment.

On hit: Cast Spell Entangle Level 1.

Modified Mur Chainmail Added v1050 -- Sternhund Harrison

These Mur chainmail have been modified by the expertly hands of Harrison the Smith of Lower Sanctuary. Noisy metal joints have been replaced with boiled leather and chain rings have been trimmed for greater fluidity.

These modifications permit the bearer to move with greater care and also enhances his auditory acuity by removing the self-induced noise produced by the metallic joints.

The only problem is that the removed parts offer less protection and make the wearer more vulnerable to melee and ranged attacks.

Jerry Boy Presents....

Torchlight Butcher Knife Added v1050 -- Sternhund Dagger

This dagger is simply unattractive-scratchy runes are crudely carved into it's chunky, blunt blade. The 'gold' it is rumoured to be made from is chipped and cracked, and the bronze handle is flimsy. Despite these obvious flaws, the wielder seems much more intimidating, especially when prodding the victim.

A light, low light radiates from the otherwise-useless weapon, making it useful when you want to be semi-efficient in battle and guidance.... The light that emenates from the blade nearly blinds the wielder, rendering them useless to concentrating on a single object.

Jerry Boy Presents....

Jerry's Quarterstaff of Fire Added v1050 -- Sternhund Quarterstaff

This old rod once was used to brand Rothe, yet it now is covered in rust and filth. It is tinged red, and is still slightly hot to the touch. It is quite obvious that it is not the great weapon Jerry Boy claims it to be, but it does seem to be of some use.

Kuo-Toan net Added v1050 -- Sternhund

This net is of the type used by the Kuo-Toans to hold and catch larger fish or other landliving creatures - such as humans.

Hold Person: Single Use.

Kuo-Toan light trident/spear/short sword

Kuo-Toans prefer weapons with a very light weight, which are easier to use when fighting or moving in water or wet terrain. This trident is not a masterpiece, but serves it's purpose.

Weight reduction: 80% of original weight

Kuo-Toan Masterwork weapon

Kuo-Toans prefer weapons with a very light weight, which are easier to use when fighting or moving in water or wet terrain. It is rare that Kuo-Toans put the best of these weapons up for export, though this one has somehow found it's way here. It's lightness and excellence make for a versatile weapon.

Attack Bonus: +1 Weight reduction: 80% of original weight

Fish Drink Added v1050 -- Sternhund

This is a Kuo-Toan brew which, apart from containing nourishment, gives soem resistance to the poisons and dangers that lurk in murky waters.

(Potion): Ironguts

Fishnet Stockings Krovus Added v1050 -- Sternhund

Stockings of this sort assembled from fine fishing net fiber are all the rage among the females of Loblobliiiblop, despite their fishy amine smell. Sadly, these abominations are poorly-made, and made to fit Koa-Toan women, no less.

[Boots] Skill Penalty: Persuade -2 Skill Penalty: Bluff -1

Eau de Poisson Krovus Added v1050 -- Sternhund

This exotic spray bottle of perfume was imported from Loblobliiiblop. To nobody's surprise, the foul, volatile mixture exudes the distinctive stench of dead fish. You are fairly sure that if you wore it for too long, you'd paralyze your sense of smell.

3 charges Use: Stinking Cloud (3 charges/use) Use: Ironguts (1 charge/use)

Kua-Toan Boom Shell Added v1107 -- Sternhund Krovus

There have been very few civilized societies who haven't dabbled in music in some form or another. Loblobliiiblop is no exception. This particular Kua-Toan novelty is a large conch shell containing latent music, stored by some mysterious Kua-Toan magic. By shaking the shell vigorously, or bashing it against a rock, the shell can be made to echo back its stored contents to its surroundings, with nearly as much volume and quality as one could expect from the original performers.

These marvelous musical shells have greatly increased Loblobliiiblop musicians' potential for revenue by opening markets beyond the isolation of their island. This exciting technology has been siezed and employed by dozens of musicians to date. Specifically, this shell delivers the jaunty musical stylings of famous Kua-Toan buoy band "Fish out of Water".

Rusted Flat-Toothed Lockpick Jerry Boy

While this old and worn lockpick has clearly seen better days, it would still be a useful tool for any enterprising security specialist.

Rat Tail Charm Wily Williams

Every once in a while, these neatly severed rat tails seem to writhe of their own accord -- Wily Williams, who sells them, is forced to store them in a secure box to keep them in check. He refuses to tell where he acquires them, but it is clear that they've been imbued with some strange, skill-enhancing magicks.

Miscellaneous Small Item +1 to rogue skills for 10 minutes in the manner of Bilby's belt (just modify the script to reduce the bonus) Single use

Ratsight Pendant Wily Williams

While a rat's vision is naturally very poor, they have other senses to help them survive in their world of scavenging and filth. This crude pendant has a small black gem hanging at the end, glinting in the light like the dissected eyeball of a rat.

Amulet -3 Spot +3 Listen

Steel Fins Krovus

Kuo-toa monitors often use these heavy, rubbery gloves with sharp steel claws at the tips of the thumb and the middle two fingers. Although one cannot be disarmed while using them, they're somewhat awkward for humanoids other than the kuo-toa themselves.

Gauntlets +2 slashing damage -1 Dexterity

Red Skull Tooth Jerry Boy

This decayed and brittle tooth was likely taken from the Red Skull Temple. It can be ground and sprinkled over an item to make it glow for some time.

Misc. Small Use: Red Light Gem, single use

Ratbite Dirk Wily Williams

A filthy little weapon, jaded to the point that it would be almost useless if not for its... well, filth. Whether its contagious sting is a magical property or simply a result of prolonged exposure to ghastly hygiene is unknown.

A different aspect of the Rat stuff:

Harvester Boots Wily Williams

These reinforced leather boots were designed in helping Rat hunters during their descent into the hazardeous sewer environments below.

Padded with metallic edges, these boots offer a better protection against possibly sharp and rusted infected iron pieces that populate the ground of the sewers.

Boots Saving throw bonus: +1 against disease.

Harvester Gloves Wily Williams

These simple gloves made of boiled leathers were designed by rat hunters to help in harvesting precious rat meat with diminished risk of infections.

Gloves Saving throw bonus: +1 against disease.

Hazard Mask Wily Williams

These metallic masks contain an heavy grid and several well-designed filters to aid the Rat hunters in surviving in the harsh hazardous environment of the sewers.

A consequence is that the thickness of the mask obstructs the wearer's visual range making it harder to see what kind of monstrosities might be crawling upon the ceilling of the sewer shafts.

Helm Saving throw bonus: +1 against poison. -2 Spot

Reinforced Hazard Mask Wily Williams

This version of the Hazard Mask has been combined with a svirfneblin air-shaft system to help in filtrating noxious gases usually found in the lower sections of the Dunwarren sewers.

Although the air-shaft system generates a lot of noise which puts the Rat hunter at a disadvantage when facing stealthy foes.

Helm Saving throw bonus: +2 against poison. -2 Spot -2 Listen

Skinning Tool Wily Williams

This discreet weapon is made of fine razor-sharp metal poles which were designed to accuratly excavate rat entrails.

These tools supplement well any sewer dweller that battle the local pests lodge into the deeper sections of the sewers.

Although using them is usually not for the faint of heart.

Sickle + 2 Slashing Damage against Animals. + 1 Hide. Only useable by Evil. Only useable by Neutral.

Svirfneblin Shocker Wily Williams

This strange device has been mounted unto a small pole. It is rumoured to have been used in the past by the Svirfneblin of Dunwarren in order to fight Chosens.

Currently, these tools aid Rat hunters in keeping the Chosens at bay without gravely injuring them.

**This device seems only to work in the hands of an humanoid sporting gnomish heritage.[Optional]**

Mace + 1d4 electrical damage vs. Shapechanger. [No visual at 1d4, and only 80 gold price.] **Only useable by Gnome [Optional]**

Metal stuff:

Crescent Hatchet Harrison

This hatchet has a crescent-shaped head. It was first designed to be a weapon that could be well-concealed for ambushes.

However, the smoothed edges of the crescent hatchets are poorly balanced due to the concealement aids and make it hard for the user to move around.

Battle Axe - 1 Attack Bonus + 2 Hide.

Hollow Axe Harrison

This huge axe is a double-bladed weapon with razor-sharp edges. The long handle allows the wielder to put considerable force into the swing.

This particular one bears the signature of 'Harrison' along the handle.

Great Axe 60% Weight Reduction. + 1 intimidate.

Lower's Mauler Harrison

A huge maul with four metallic spirals coming out from the iron hammerheads. The spirals seem extremely odd in design with no particular order to them.

Minor cursed svirfneblin runes can be seen upon the handle which lead the weilder's already unstable mind into a more psychotic state. Oddly, the metallic spirals seem to grip tightly to anything that it detects as predictable and organized.

Warhammer +2 Piercing Damage against Lawful -1 Will Only useable by Chaotic.

Pry Bar Harrison

This huge metallic pole is curved at the end to help in prying coffers, doors and traps open.

It's sharp ends and well-balanced designed makes it an excellent weapon along with its other uses.

This lengthy blade has been slightly reinforced and blunted in order to cut through spongy fungus more effectively. A true requirement for any Lowermen who wants to keep his home fungus-free.

Scimitar -2 physical damage. +2 Bludgeoning Damage.

Why people would actually pay good money to drink this harsh substance is a mystery. A single sip often turns the drinker's face deathly pale for several minutes.

A metal ring painted with a gold dye. It shines more than usual and may aid a poorer men in appearing more secure and appealing in his speechs.

Ring +1 Persuade.

Counterfeit Ruby Ring Jerry Boy

This iron ring possess a huge shiny red stone that ressembles oddly to a ruby to untrained eyes. It can be used by talented con artist to distract the attention of city dwellers while talking which leads them to pay less importance to the rationality of your arguments.

Ring +2 Bluff.

Rat Handbag Willy Williams

This would appear to be the skin of a giant rat, intact save for a slit down its back, featuring leather straps for fastening the skin closed. Another strap, running from the skull of the rat to its rear, is long enough to sling around one's shoulder. The overall effect is a functional handbag with a pointed, eyeless face, ears, a long, rubbery tail, teeth and claws. There's no accounting for taste...

The Home Taxidermy Kit Willy Williams

According to the graphic and informative instruction sheet which accompanies it, this kit contains everything you will need to stuff and mount your own rats. Lovely.

Just for the record... NWN won't register the +2 piercing damage as piercing, just adds it to the total bludgeoning damage (Base weapon damage type). To make it do piercing also in melee you need to give it Extra melee damage: Piercing and it will register as doing both Bludgeoning and Piercing damage.

So this is what it would look like to hopefully achieve your same goal...

Does anyone ever bother cleaning rat teeth...I am sure they are all very smelly....

Thomas_Not_very_wise Does anyone ever bother cleaning rat teeth...I am sure they are all very smelly....

That might be a -2, but -4 is like wearing the hide of humans on your back. :P

A suit made from Dwarf skins was only -2. A dead and decaying fairy on a chain was only -2. I don't think some rat teeth would be much more.

Coral Club

Krovus

The club is made from hundreds of pieces of fused coral, quite how this is done is a mystery, a secret kept by the Kuo Toa. Magic certainly exists within the weapon, but it never feels quite 'right' when wielded, unless of course you are a Kuo Toa, and of course like most of their produce it smells like rotting fish.

+2 Slashing Damage -1 Attack Bonus 50% Weight Massive criticals 5 -2 Persuade

Choker Weed Krovus

Choker Weed is a rare seaweed know for its adhesive properties, found only in and around the Kuo-Toa settlement on the Dark Lake. The Kuo-Toa harvest it, extract the sticky juices and use it as a coating for their ships, keeping them watertight, and on their "fishing" nets. However, in recent years, Slavers and Bounty Hunters have begun using it to capture their marks. When thrown at a target, the weeds tangle themselves around the limbs of a target, rendering them immobile.

These Svirfneblin dolls have been recovered from the lake; whereas not a fanciful sight to behold and at the verge of falling apart, these dolls have been given peculiar enchantments in a far past as toys for the original inhabitants and they offspring.

While most of the enchantments have been worn off by water and time alike, it's undisputed that these dolls can still brighten one's day.
