Nelson Mehnia for Council

VOTE FOR NELSON MEHNIA

Friends, comrades, and countrymen, it is with an optimistic eye that I look forward to the future. Sanctuary has endured immense suffering in the last few months: we have suffered the horrors of enemy invasion, our previous ‘allies’ deserted us in our moment of need, many of our elected leaders, including several men in the most powerful position of authority in this settlement, have been assassinated, and Sanctuary appears ready to plunge into darkness and chaos. My friends, we have experienced great sorrow as we see those we care about fall to the encroaching shadow. I have lost many whose memories I cherish, just as you have, and I stand amongst you todark to say enough.

Enough pointless squabbling and bickering as our beloved settlement crumbles to dust. Enough power-mongering and calculated aid as our loved ones succumb to violence and death. Enough of the decadence and corruption of the old Councils!

Individualism and isolation are not the tools of a settlement with any interest in surviving. It is in the best interest of every man and woman in Sanctuary to unite against our common enemies, not fight amongst ourselves as those with dark intent circle and move in to attack! This election, I invite every intelligent, thoughtful person to come together and vote for progress not as petty individuals with their own agendas, but as a unified settlement, ready to defend Sanctuary against all enemies and shout to the heavens that you want something better for your children!

I, Nelson Mehnia, intend to run for Council to make sure that the reforms and policies that are needed for a better world are enacted so that those of you who hunger may be fed and those who fear may be comforted.

The Aberrant Menace

Fair citizens of Sanctuary, for many years our settlement has faced a danger that threatens to consume us all. The more commonly battled enemies - rogue drow and internal criminals - can be identified and defeated, in most cases without an exceptional amount of difficulty so long as the agencies that guard our settlement are properly maintained and funded. Criminal deviants and drow are simple creatures, more often than not drivien by basic urges - greed at the expense of society, destruction of virtues that they despise, and dominion over stronger men. They violate our laws and, with the aid of a sword or fist, can be cut down and their treat ended.

The greater danger to our settlement is the illithid and his enthralled agents. Any man, woman, or child could be an assassin, forced to work for one of the many creatures of such diabolical disposition who currently desire ownership of our precious settlement and, what is far worse, control of our consciousness. It is nearly impossible to determine who may be a thrall, and this is what is so dangerous about this threat. The dagger in the back could come from anyone - a friend, a trusted child, a Watchman or Seeker. Those who have been fully enthralled do not retain their original virtue and decency, but have been twisted by their master's malevolent sorcery.

I, Nelson Mehnia, should I be elected, will do everything in my power to protect you from these creatures. More effective measures, such as reinforcing laws against dealing with these creatures, will be the first thing on my agenda.

A vote for Mehnia is a vote for safety.
