Suggestion for a small new item:
Sold by normal vendors, (free or reduced fee for law-enforcers, and maybe Ledskirs).
100-150gp(semi-expensive), 25-40pounds. So it cannot be mass-produced.
An item that, when used, puts a 'saw horse' Placeable renamed Barricade with 10hp and 5 Hardness [nothing major]. This item cannot be undeployed once used, and can only be redirected(angle facing) by the one that deploys it in the same manner that you redirect catapults. [GetLocalFloat(GetLastUsedBy, etc.. etc..)]
You put the barricade to [Custom] faction neutral to everyone except Hostile, so monsters/creatures attack it.
I think it would be nice as a strategic supplement, but more designed to appear nice for a scene build-up..
i.e.
Bandits put barricades in the tunnels/sewers to ambush a group of people.
Law enforcers locksdown an area.
Ledskirs install a toll...
Goblin Raid is impending and the citizens are placing an array of barricades near the front doors to prevent the attackers from reaching the doors too quickly.
And dozens of scenes where you might think of having a small barricade before you without bothering a DM for a small design touch like that.

This is a pretty good idea, and can go with our already existing set of inventory placeables, like catapults and alchemist barrels.

And actually, there is kind of a persistant custom placeable object project in the works. Aside from a barricade like this, can you guys come up with some other significant objects that you could have a reason to set down and have stick around? At this point, this won't happen with everything, like swords or pot helms, but a large barricade, maybe a rune circle with some significance, an inscribed stone tablet, those kind of things. It would be nice to hear some fresh ideas.

Candles, lanterns or other things that you can cast light or continual flame on or work as a temporary light source like the campfires.

Chairs?
In the same vein as the barricades, broken tables.
Perhaps Bedrolls could be rescripted to operate in this way as well (that you actually set them down instead of just holding them in your inventory), minus the not being able to reclaim them part.
Nothing else springs to mind, regrettably.

Something slightly more expensive/rare/restricted and triggersome would be:
-Runes on the floor of Dispel.
-Runes on the floor of Dispel Invisibility.
[Only available for the Spellguard Magocracy, and would cost a significant amount and deploy time. These runes can be painted unto any ground surface (within Dunwarren as a restriction, maybe?) to help the Magocracy deal with Arcane criminals and threats to the city.]
What I thought about in the same vein as the barricades:
Lockdown beacon. Simply descriptor: Area under Lockdown. [For Law-enforcers]
etc.
Candles would definitely be nice to setup an Altar or such...

Not sure if this is doable, also love everyone's ideas.
Signs Maybe (not sure if this is in or just no possible)
I see alot of banners that are empty and what not and I know alot of merchants hawk there wares at the Bazaar might be nice if while there they could put up a little banner or sign saying "Whoever's Goods" or what not.
Can't think of much else at moment.

Would it be possible to replace the trap system with something like this to make it a fairer, more feasible option in PvP? I know right now there's trouble with traps being too high of a DC to be noticed by players when players plant them.
How about some custom placeable signs, banners, and the like, to help with advertising in-game?
Also, I for one would like to see some custom placeable boxes within which we may hide when the enemies pass by. I think that by implementing more Solid Snake-based placeables we can improve the over-all greatness of the server.

I love this idea. It would be really perfect for PC factions and their HQ, without the need of a DM to set up minor things such as this. I especially like the simple sign displaying "Southside Thugs" or anything like that. Persistant traps would be pretty neat aswell, but if implemented I wouldn't want to see anything more powerful than minor variants of them. If you could get persistant traps, it would mostly be for show, not to mention it could get pretty nasty with anything else.
Perhaps certain items bought from the Curio Shop could be treated like this? It would be suitable, I think.

Curio shop evil.
We can have new merchants come into town, when server comes back up...*Rubs his tired eyes and goes to sleep*

This is no longer the case, IIRC.
I'm not opposed to this, bear in the mind a barricade item would weigh like 150.5 but it is still not a bad idea!

Though it might be better to have a little less-weight but also less-hp/less-dr barricades. It doesn't need to weigh 150 lbs to be good for blocking something, really. More than just one version would be real neat. Perhaps one weighing in around 75 lbs, one 100 lbs, 150 lbs, 200 lbs...?

The idea wasn't that it's to be an effective barricade - just a sawhorse.
I'm not sure what to think about these being persistent. Maybe the "new" Office of Engineering will hire some PC sanitation workers. >_>

A 150 lb sawhorse is a bit... steep, though.

Portable stools would be good, maybe portable boxes just so you can make a really makeshift barricade or store some odd things in them for any reason.

Maybe the Greycloak Armorie should sell Sanctified Ward Stones which can be dropped to create an anti-evil/chaos mine of a sorts.
It'd be a good idea in my oppinion.

That's a good idea to pursue IG. That technology isn't exactly readily available. Make it so!

Thanks, all I need to do is find a person with a high enough craft trap skill whom I can trust, and a cleric to make the wards themselves.
Time to get the Acylote in the Temple of Tyr trained up!
