To the Spellguard

My name is Trepidity Hectra. On the surface, four years ago I was an apprentice working with the famed Heirmon Hext, former Red Wizard and recent addition to the Zhentarim wizarding ranks. If you are familiar with Magus Hext's work, he specialized in fear magics. Due to a very natural inclination with such spellwork, I flourished under his tutelage. Specifically, my work extended to utilizing tactics that ensured the growing Zhentarim army remained fearful enough in battle of its officers to maintain high levels of discipline.

Upon an unfortunate betrayal by a rival student, I was sold into slavery to the drow of Traensyr. They afforded me a certain magnitude of freedom to pursue my studies, even learn a little from their own apprentices who came to me for aid in their own research into fear inducing magics. Although a slave, providing "shows" to bored males by invoking abject terror in subjects provided me a limited amount of freedom.

This freedom resulted in my escape from Traensyr. Relatively unimportant however to the text of this essay. At the moment, I find myself in Sanctuary looking to further my own research. As the only magical institute in the city, and one dedicated to the furtherence of law and the containment of social dissidents from what I can tell-I wish to offer my services.

I'm willing to meet with any of the apprentices currently working for the Agency. Through conversation, I can better express my talents and skills while learning more about the Agency that can allow both our parties to reach a mutually beneficial relationship-conditions being suitable for such.

Sincerely;

Trepidity Hectra

Mr. Hectra,

I am sure that myself or another of the agents will be available at some point in the near future to converse with you about your studies and related topics. As a practitioner of the so-called illusion school of magic, which often makes use of fear tactics in combat situations, it would be my great pleasure to trade notes with you and hear more about the Thayan approach and so forth. Please visit the Spellguard Tower at your earliest convenience, and myself or one of my colleagues will endeavor to make ourselves available from our duties.

Sincerely, Agent Aaron Wrinkle
