Familairs in town.

Are familairs in town considered 'unlawful use of magic' outside of spellguarded areas? Or is it allowable to use familairs anywhere, weither for RP or for whatever reason? Haven't seen any info adressing this subject so I want to make sure before I use mine.

It depends. When I was a watchman I would generally use disgression. If its something thats not to harmful like a bat I'd be fine with it. But if I seen something likea stne lizard or a dragon of some kind I may ask it removed or be removed. Its all down to the practicular law person your dealing with.

On another note I've seen random new people insta kill these things in one hit due to ignorance/ wanting to be an ass.

As a Watch member, I don't care if there is a easy looking creature, rat, bat, but I won't allow even those kind to go doors. If I see those going in Rock Bottom, I'll ask to unsummon, or send them out.

If I see a memphit, lizard or other, I'll probably attack it right away with out asking. Usually as OOC kindness I ask to get rid of them first.

Seems rather...debatable. I'd like to see it either be a law, or not. Since they are familairs, and are thus intelligent creatures. It's not like people in the underdark nor in Santuary are ignorant of magic. Weither it's an evil creature or not, it is at the whim of the caster controlling it. Having watchmen kill familairs, regardless of what race they are, also seems....OOC to me. Would Watchmen really chase down every rat or bat they saw flying about, to kill it? Doesn't seem to make sense. Rats and bats, especially in regard to how many rat infestations there are, should be above watchmen to chase down and try and smush. At the very least, maybe there could be some way to register your familair, so that it can be legal to use it, considering it to be minion or citzen in sanctuary. Just my couple cents.

This discussion seems like one that should happen in game, and not in the forums. If you check the lawbooks in Sanctuary, you may see that they are unclear on a lot of points. As a result, different law officials deal with things differently. If you have a problem with them, bring it up with them or their superiors.

Pursuing a goal like a familiar registration law seems like a perfectly reasonable in-character goal. Go for it!

Sassy's statement sums it up. The lawbooks are sparse and ambiguous on many points due to events in Sanctuary's recent history. Characters who want to add/remove/modify/understand specific laws should work to do so in-game.

Forgive me, but I have been RPing here less than a week, and was trying to determine how the laws were set, or not-set as the case may be. And pursuing such laws may be a perfectly reasonable goal IC. But not one for Malik. Maybe someone else will do it, like I don't know, some canidate running for council....that would be grand :P
