Seems to me that this was suggested somewhere, but I can't find where.

I think it'd be nifty if in the Crone's lounge area in the basement if there was a crate full of random rotten food that people could use to throw in the Fighting Pit. This way spectators can "be part of the fight". Plus, what else can we do with the Crone's moldy leftovers?

I believe this is already in consideration. Of course, this is just what I heard IC from another player.
