[the letter is sealed with a green wax, imprinted with a fist. It is brought directly to the watch house after the one given to Private Sunellar is thrown into the trash]
Honorable Sheriff,
Even as I am a great admirer of the authority you demonstrated when you ensured that the impotent council would not allow our city to fail, I shall not waste your time with numerous praises for I know that you are a busy man.
I write this letter out of concern. Our Lord Bane demands dutiful service and allegiance to the authority of the State, and so it is not unexpected that some of the men who heed His Doctrine yearn to aid in the city's defense in the ranks of the Watch.
However, one of your Privates, called Sunellar, has turned away one such man unless he pledged his allegiance to the Gods of the rebels in New Dunwarren. I was not aware that your Watchmen were part of their theocracy, and I hope that he merely was overstepping his authority, and allowing his religious prejudices to cloud his better judgement.
The man in question is called Kane, and he is a capable and dutiful soldier, willing to lay down his life for the security and safety of our people and our home, and I ask that you consider that before you allow such a steadfast man to be summarily turned away.
Respectfully, Sister Hikaru Ayumi
