A large DANGER sign confronts any who approach the stairs that leads down to the Clan home of the Stouthearts. The staircase is always guarded by the ever vigilant Private Thoras of the watch who keeps a keen eye out for incursions up the stairs by the Chosen.
Often the sounds of battle can be heard coming from down below. Cries of dwarven battle chants, the most obscene and colourful insults & epithets and the terrible screams & howls of the chosen can be heard from the top of the stairs. If a person is foolhardy enough to ignore the warning sign, they will descend a staircase and find themselves on a platform that is moderate in size.
This platform is covered & strewn about with the detritus of hundreds of dead chosen, undead eyeball aberrations of various sizes and dead bats which are in varying states of decay. All of which have been hacked and bashed by the axes and hammers of the clan. If the visitor has unfortunate timing though, then it is likely they will encounter some of the living or animate chosen and eyeballs who will not doubt do their best to slay them.
Now & then one can witness a lone dwarf in black plate going out to battle these creatures. On occasion he is in company with other dwarves or allies of the clan yet more often than not, he fights these creatures alone and defeats them, always hurling insults, abuse and derision at his enemies.
Behind the staircase is a raised area which sits Barak-tor, the clan stronghold. Beneath the stronghold is a cave openning which leads to a couple of empty chambers which are behind locked gates inside.
The shield dwarves who live in Barak-Tor do not often welcome casual visitors nor encourage sight seeing groups due to the potential danger that having such people walking about the exterior platform often attracts unwelcome attention.
