I am new here and appreciate any help that can be given. I was killed early on in the game now I am stuck in hell. The guy that is supposed to get me out tries and it says error and something about a hook. What can I do?

Hm, what killed you? If it was a PC, you can't get out without DM intervention.

When you die you leave behind a corpse that can be picked up like an item. In this case. Someone has your corpse , probably to carry it to a safe space so you can respawn.

Did they somehow script in that a death caused by a PC means you're stuck in the fugue? Is this seriously enforced now?

Yes they did and I -fully- support it. Too many people get killed...respawn and go tattle to every law enforcement person that they were "Killed" And what not and it is rediculous IMO and this is a great way to end things like that. If you don't wanna die and your char doesn't either then don't engage in pvp...and if its forced then well...tough luck its the underdark...and if it was greifing don't worry the DMs will get you if wrong doings were done. Everyone dies...and more people die sooner in the Underdark I mean for gods sake its dangerous to go into the mines from Sanctuary and I love it. Danger makes me happy.

S/He is kind of in need of some feedback on death and dying on EfU, and rules regarding such.

Can a DM perhaps provide a link to what would be considered the best thread or info? (It makes it so much more "official" that way. :P)

And "welcome," by the way, Eleazar. Don't let a death early on spoil your enjoyment of the server. (Your characters will likely die a lot in your early days on the server. :))

He didn't really offer quite enough information for us to help him out. :O(

Eleazar: You should attempt to contact a DM In game (via typing /dm before your messages) to get this fixed.

Haha but it did happen all the damn time on CoA whenever I ended up killing anyone I'd have the misfortune of them respawning and going straight to the guards even though it is against the rules to go straight to them =P

Back on topic, however. I presume Eleazar is occuring a bug. As (s)he clearly says, "The guy that is supposed to get me out tries and it says error and something about a hook." It might be that you, or the script, as having some kind of problem. The more obvious choice, as you've tried and failed, would be to contact a DM through in-game means, by using the DM-chat channel, or log onto #EfU at DarkMyst IRC and ask for one there. You might also consider posting it under the Bug Reports section of the forum, so a DM might look at it even while you didn't have time to personally speak to one.

However, what I would do first is try to resolve the problem one last time. Just chill out in 'Hell', or referred to as the 'Fugue' in our server, and wait until a player comes along to respawn. Then do exactly what he does. If it still doesn't work, copy or print-screen the error message you've had, and report it to the DMs so they'd know what to specifically look at. I hope this helps.
